Wow you got your facts wrong again. He played for Bruce Bush not Akins . He was an assistant coach at Hardin Simmons and then was a defensive coordinator at Odessa Permian and Westlake. Coached in state game that went to OT. Been around some of the best coaches in the state. Disagree. Westlake has been a powerhouse since the 80s. They win because there is talent up the butt in Austin and it all goes to Westlake or Lake Travis. They would win regardless of who the coach is. So to assume they are some of the best coaches in the state is nonsense in my opinion. And Permian at this point is just a name. They haven't been great since the early 90s. I'm not saying all that means Anastasio won't ever have success. Just saying that to go by the fact that he was once at Westlake and Permian is nothing but name dropping. Westlake is still gonna be a powerhouse even if you put Robstown's coach there. Westlake, Lake Travis, Cedar Par, and Both Leander's are all with in 5 miles of each other

He beat y'all. 1-0 baby. Funny what you said cause legendary coach Akins approves him! Really ? What do you expect Akins to say? He played for him. Give me a break. He has no track record as a head coach. You took a chance on him just because he had Westlake on the resume. And no he didn't beat Alice. Bisby beat Alice. Wrong. Alice beat Alice, with all of our turnovers.

GP got a new D courdinator the guy came from Westlake and worked with Anastatio at Odesa Permian. Also got a line coach from Beeville and a offensive Coordinator from King in corpus. Seems that these coaches fit him better and he is happy. GP got Kings OC? Maybe GP can finally beat King.

In the fall, I talked to a few players from a middle school here in Victoria who just got killed by Refugio middle school/JH. They were making excuses that Refugio used varsity players and they are on steroids blah blah blah. They got beat because they only work out during their football period. They are at the mall, hanging out at the pool, on facebook, etc. Case in point, ran into a student last week..."So, how's your summer?" Kid-"okay, boring. Didn't do too much." I was in Refugio for work back in June. Saw a young man I knew, "So, how's your summer." Kid-"Ah man, been working out, running, getting ready for the season." That's the difference right there. Say it once, I'll say it again. Gonzalez is not the elite coach VISD will have you believe. He had a few good season at Ray, but he also had a stud QB. Not prior, nor since has he ever taken a team to the playoffs. Both Victoria schools have good, family men as coaches, just not good coaches. Nonsense, nonsense, and more nonsense. I still don't get all the Gonzales bashing. Umm yes he did have a stud QB when he was at Ray. But why is that a mark against him? It's stupid. Are you gonna say that Andrus had a stud QB at Flour Bluff last season so the success doesn't count for Andrus either? All of Calallen's success comes when they have stud QBs, so does that not count either? I'm not gonna name every stud player that every successful team has, but I think you get the point. Yes Gonzales had a stud QB when he was the coach at Ray, but he obviously knew how to use that stud QB and had something to do with his success. You can call it nonsense all you want but the proof is there. How many playoff games did Gonzalez coach in where his QB was not named Bell (I think that was his name, but you know who I'm talking about). I am not a Flour Bluff historian but he's taken teams to the playoffs with different QBs. And don't you think it was rather fishy that Gonzalez and the AD were buddies back in the day. I have nothing against the guy, but I feel these kids deserve better than a coach that had a 10-29 record. Could you imagine the outcry in Alice if we hired a coach that was 10-29?

Coach Brent Davis was 2-18 the 2 years before Alice at The Colony. So yeah, my point still stands.

Wrong. Alice beat Alice, with all of our turnovers. Isn't there a rule about using the same excuse more than a dozen times? You should know since you and the other crabs have excused the crap out of your Edcouch loss. Heck you even made excuses for why Edcouch lost the week after beating you.

True, but it only took once for you to get the message. That's because there is no Edcouch fans in here to counter your excuse thus making it drag on. We superior Alice fans have multiple GP fans that counter it and randomly bring it up. So your comment is nonsense.

His body of work was much better than Gonzalez's. Come on dude, just because someone has a different point of view than your own, doesn't mean you have to go out of your way prove them wrong. I have my opinion, you have yours. Take the chip off your shoulder and enjoy the board.
