Gordon wiod said it in 1959 and it holds true till this day. So yes . Congrats on beatin pl tho. ? As long as we are clear .... Then it seems a CC town can have a good program ... See the VHS success in the late 80's and all of the 90's ... There's still hope Never said they couldn't. But I am saying they can't sustain it. Reeve and weddell were excellent coaches. Mcangus n gonzales csnt hold those men's playbook

Mcangus n gonzales csnt hold those men's playbook I'm pretty sure you have no clue what you are talking about or you would know Mcangus was the oc for reeves, so in fact, he did hold the playbook. I think it is taking a while to kick the idea of them being a monster 5a size and kids thinking sport specialization. Once they realize they can participate in more than 1 sport there numbers will go up. Also I don't know if you have been in the hallways of either Vic school or you would know like every south tx school their Hispanic population is rising, both schools are near 70percent. So most of those athletes you keep going on about walking the hall have 5'7" genetics....

Some of the best athlete Calhoun has produced are short Hispanic kids, ala bargus. For you to make that statement is hideous.

Really all I'm saying is this is highschool football. Because a kid is a certain size or ethnicity,'doesn't mean he cannot contribute in some way.

Soo I don't think your well informed on th e kids in vic. To say they habe the same talent level as everyone else around here is wrong. They hsve more speed and size year in and year out. Its a fact. Do they have small "hispanic" kids as you more or less refered to. Yes. They do. But they also have some other talented kids. More so then others around here Maybe you think I'm anti victoria. Thats not it. I just see wasted talent. Yall remind me of corpus christi isd in the athletic dpt and That's not a compliment.

The previous track season their head coach told ours tjat he could never win at Calhoun because w ehad too many "IBMs"..not being familair with tje term he asked what that meant. The other coach told him " too many itty bitty mexicans". Our coach told him. (I was standing next to him. I'm 6'3" btw) "we may not beat anyone else next season but were gonna beat yalls ass!" And we did:)

However with the right coach it can be turned just like Whitaker .... Go back and look at your records before him just like VHS before Weddel it can be turned

I am hispanic and my grandfather was 6"4 genetics geez.... That is a crazy statement Calhoun may get a three star recruit who is hispanic 6"3 320 ... what I am trying to say is it just takes good coaching and students buying into a program to start making it improve. I am not saying VE coach is not good that will play itself out in the near future just had to make a comment on that statement I read....

I agree completely I played with and coached allot of very good Hispanic players ... IMO they get overlooked sometimes because of there perceived size disadvantage ... And your correct on Ortega all 5'9" or so of him

JMO But all that really matters is if a coach cant get the players to come out for and buy in to what he's trying to do. If he can do that the community will get behind the team/school and things will start to roll from there. Just like it has in PLC. Hoe long will it last....... We'll have to wait and see.

Ortega is mixed race, his dad is black and mother is hispanic. And by the looks neither of his parents have any height. Im looking forward to him doing his thing on the gridiron, the coach waited far to late in the season to move him to qb and the team never really got to gel but Im telling you this offense will be special. The returning receivers and what is in the pipeline will provide some headaches for alot of teams. Im glad they are being overlooked because they will surprise some teams, as I stated earlier the kid had played in one other game as a qb and lit PLC up for 359yards passing and 122 rushing and that was with him hobbled by a bad hamstring.

Ortega & Lofton are two of the best athletes in South Texas. East will definitely have a top-notch offense. If their defense comes around, they will be a force to reckon with.
