GP got a new D courdinator the guy came from Westlake and worked with Anastatio at Odesa Permian. Also got a line coach from Beeville and a offensive Coordinator from King in corpus. Seems that these coaches fit him better and he is happy.

I don't need a run/pass lesson from a guy that supports a team that runs the ball 50 times a game and passes it 2 times. Denton Guyer won a title last season playing no defense. So don't tell me it can't be done. At the very least it's more likely to see a team win a championship playing no defense than it is to see a team win the championship running the ball 99% of the time. And yet your coach runs it 99% of the time. So maybe you should worry about critiquing your own coach instead of East's coach. like PurpCrab said, poor comparison. Guyer's defense gave up 50+ to Cedar Hill, Colleyville Heritage, and John Tyler; 42 to Birdville; 37 to Georgetown; 30 to Amarillo and Aledo. VE's defense gave up 77 to Calallen, 61 to Calhoun, 49 to Tuloso-Midway, 48 to Victoria West, 30 to Beeville. Notice the difference? Guyer's defense got shredded by good offenses, but the defense could at least shut down the bad offenses on the schedule (shutouts vs. Denton and Wichita Falls, 8 to Brewer, 10 to a quarterback-free version of Wichita Falls Rider.) I can safely say that Guyer would not give up 49 to T-M or 30 to Beeville, or 77 to Calallen. The lowest point total VE gave up last season was 27, and that was against a 3A team. And... the other thing is, you have to be averaging close to 50 a game on offense to get away with that, which VE didn't. How is it a poor comparison? I'm not comparing East to Guyer talent wise. I'm comparing a POINT. And the point I made stands. You can win a championship playing no defense. Saying Guyer wouldn't give up 49 to TM or 77 to Calallen is irrelevant to the point. This isn't about East verses Guyer. This is about a POINT THAT YOU CAN WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP WITHOUT A GOOD DEFENSE. What is so hard to understand? You are making this about something it is not in order to win a debate. Sorry but my point stands. I could care less about the fact that Guyer wouldn't give up so many points to teams that East did. THIS ISN'T ABOUT EAST VERSES GUYER. Wow.

I like what coach A is doing in GP He was fighting the school board at first. Now he has his coaches. He also influenced the Bond that made it possible to build the multi sport complex which should start soon. Got a new track this summer. Including the Concrete part of it. Next year I hear field turf. He has help from the city as water restrictions are tightened on that issue. All in all great guy who cares about the school. He's not nice but a true Alumni who wants what's best for the kids.

Seems that these coaches fit him better and he is happy. Anastasio wasn't a good choice. Picking a coach just because they were an assistant at a big name school is never the right choice in my opinion. Westlake was successful because they are Westlake and have been great since the 80s. Not because Anastasio was an assistant there. I think the better coaches are the ones that build up little or scrub programs. Back in 1989 Alice hired Ken Herring just because he had "Odessa Permian" on his resume. Poor choice. The moron came here and tried to change our colors to Orange and Black. They didn't let him, but he did add black to the outline of our pants and numbers. The moron was always talking about Odessa Permian also. We all grew tired of it. I remember when the movie Friday Night Lights came out they asked Coach Herring about his experiences in Odessa Permian. He was still an assistant in Permian in the late 80s when the movie takes place. Coach Herring said it was worse in Alice. lol. Said when he went 5-5 that first year he received all kinds of hate mail and threats and the pressure to win in Alice was worse than it was in Odessa Permian.

The visitor side seating was like the cheap seats at the Spurs arena. The seats were super close together on the sides and front to back. It was a horrible experience. The people behind me were practically eating their nachos off my head and my nuts were touching the hair of the people sitting in front of me.

You took a chance on him just because he had Westlake on the resume. And no he didn't beat Alice. Bisby beat Alice.

He played for Bruce Bush not Akins . He was an assistant coach at Hardin Simmons and then was a defensive coordinator at Odessa Permian and Westlake. Coached in state game that went to OT. Been around some of the best coaches in the state.

They win because there is talent up the butt in Austin and it all goes to Westlake or Lake Travis. They would win regardless of who the coach is. So to assume they are some of the best coaches in the state is nonsense in my opinion. And Permian at this point is just a name. They haven't been great since the early 90s. I'm not saying all that means Anastasio won't ever have success. Just saying that to go by the fact that he was once at Westlake and Permian is nothing but name dropping. Westlake is still gonna be a powerhouse even if you put Robstown's coach there.
