Calhoun is rebuilding and sandcrab fans know that. Just because we talk about our players having some potential does not mean we think they are going to blow anyone away. Heck we only have a few pages on this blog and I already see the wolfs circling. I see Calhoun having a tough time this year on defense we lost so many quality players. I do believe this will be a competitive district with Calallen being the overall favorite.

I do expect to see tyoical young mistakes, perhaps more fumbles early in the season. Wrong reads maybe. The defense , they may give up big plays early in the season. Howevee,in the past whitaker has done an excellent job and bringin young teams along just right. we shall see what happens with this group. Im excited to see them. Our JV and Freshman were both district.champs as well. Talent is there. Just gotta coach em up for varsity level, and our coaches usually do a good job of that

One misleading fact.in the article,is that "all four are on to the next level"...in fact, only one of them is. Thats Brooks. Altho MCrory is off to Navy as well

I think the jv only lost to cal in the first game of the season Our JV had Cal down by 3 TD's but let them come back and we almost lost that game. It turned into a pretty good game in the second half with Bluff winning 27-22. I have the dvd of that game right here in front of me that a good friend of mine dropped off the other day...his son was the Cal JV QB.

I think most will be suprised at the athleticism of our Offensive Backfield this year. I don't see much of a drop off there. But, the biggest problem will be that we will take our best defensive returner and make him the focus of our offense. A defense that is on the field a while means less time for your offense, so I do see a drop off in production from the offense, but not due to the fact we are weaker there than last year.

QB won't have as much speed as Bargas, but he is a big tough kid. He is big. About 6' 1" 200 lbs. And he is strong. He is looking really good pitching the ball. He also has a good arm. I would venture to say that he is as close to a "pro style" QB as we've had in the Whitaker "era", if you will. So, different style QB, but not a drop off by any means.

Bargas just had "it"...I really enjoyed watching him play the option QB position...and he was one tough character as well.

It's also big when the kid he is replacing was only 5'6".
