PSJAN-X Miller-X BVM will represent region IV The RGV homer in me wants to pick BVM....but that 3rd option is just too dang good to pass up. Rather than peyote, I'll bring some vodka & mixer instead.

If BVM is a ground based attack, I really like SV in this game. They are very disciplined on defense and play the run extremely tough.

Congrats to BVM for a great win and getting to the semifinals! My observations here are based on the CC miller game since it’s the only game I’ve seen them play. They execute their offense well, block well, and pass game is sneaky good. Defense seems average, CC Miller seemed like they could run at will.
I didn’t think SV had a very good game this week. Defense let way too many receivers get way to open. I know the Consol QB got hurt, but it looked like they got pretty conservative and stopped passing before that happened. Consol #4 seemed to get open any time and ran away from the defense every time.
BVM took advantage of the Miller mistakes the same way SV usually does. Unfortunately for BVM, I think they will be out manned against SV. SV offensive line is much bigger and faster than what I saw in BVM, and defense looks faster and stronger as well. I think SV is at least 21 points better next week.

In a matchup that looks like a Region 4 regional final from a few years back, Smithson Valley takes on Brownsville Veterans Memorial, but in the 5A state semifinals. This is a history making game for Vets and the entire RGV. I think it’s been decades since a large RGV schools reaches the state semifinals. Not since Edinburg reached this round in 5A (now 6A) back in 1999. Both teams overcame huge deficits to reach this round. Not to take anything away from SV, but BVM’s comeback was more dramatic. That said, I’m taking SV in this matchup. Give me the Rangers by 10.

I took my first look at BVM this morning, on Offense they look like Wagner with a better passing game. SV will have to dust off those defensive game plans! BVM must also be pretty good on Defense to hold Miller and PSJA to 28 points. Hopefully I can get a few games in to see them.

I watched both games and was surprised that BVM came back after the 1st half props to them. Good to see a Valley team get thru to the Semi's. But have to agree with most everyone SV will be way to much for them. Curious to see the crowd they bring to this game.

I'm in on your drink. OJ & Cranberry will work. Let me know what I owe ya! lol Man, BVM really impressed me last night. They showed a lot of heart in this game when they could have easily gotten down on themselves and gave up. Lotta fight in that team! They are a very solid team on both sides of the ball but I just think SV is going to overwhelm them with that nasty defense they have. Though SV doesn't have an all-world offense by any means, they are better than I've given em credit for all year. Hell, they just put up 31 on A&M Cons who only allowed 16.6 ppg in their other 13 games. And the only team to put up more points on them was College Station. I think the speed of the SV defense is going to really get to BVM in this game and if they cannot get a couple TDs on the board early it may get out of hand for them. my early prediction is SV 42 BVM 21 and I think at least one of BVM's scores comes late in the game when it is well over with.

If BVM is a ground based attack, I really like SV in this game. They are very disciplined on defense and play the run extremely tough. They run the ball about 85% of the time. without last nights game they only threw it 102 times and ran it 554 times. This is another big reason I think SV come out on top by a pretty large margin. BVM has thrown the ball pretty well when they've done it completing about 55% for 17 TDs and only 1 INT.

They are fairly effective throwing, but less so as the competition has gotten better. SV should be familiar with the BVM offense, as they are very similar to Wagner but without as much speed as Wagner.

PLUS… SV brings the WOOD too! They are always one of the hardest hitting teams I’ve seen! Not just hitters, but excellent form tackles that hit you hard!

Yup Exactly Wagner has way more team speed than BVM and I certainly agree that the passing has been effective. But, they've not played a defense ANYTHING close to what SV is gonna throw at em. TWolvesFan hit the nail on the head above. SV brings it and get there with really, really bad intentions. I'd challenge anyone to find another defense where that many kids get to the ball like SV does. If the 1st guy does not get him down, the next 4 or 5 are gonna pummel em.
