Yeah, after watching their last 2 games, I agree. They are fairly effective throwing, but less so as the competition has gotten better. SV should be familiar with the BVM offense, as they are very similar to Wagner but without as much speed as Wagner. Yup Exactly Wagner has way more team speed than BVM and I certainly agree that the passing has been effective. But, they've not played a defense ANYTHING close to what SV is gonna throw at em. TWolvesFan hit the nail on the head above. SV brings it and get there with really, really bad intentions. I'd challenge anyone to find another defense where that many kids get to the ball like SV does. If the 1st guy does not get him down, the next 4 or 5 are gonna pummel em. BVM cannot play as sloppy as they did in the first half vs SV. Miller let them back in a little by playing sloppy in the second half. SV will not do that. BVM will have to be on guard with ball security because the Rangers will get the ball out!

Holy crap do they have some size and speed and you are dead right, they were absolutely making devastating hits all game long. That team is flat out sick good. As good as Summer Creek is....and I don't think Steele of Drip can beat them, Desoto will beat them by 3 scores. Desoto would beat Steele or Drip by more. My God they are loaded. Thank the Lord they are opting up to 6a next season!

I think Bro Vets will play hard. But I’ll take Smithson Valley by around 35.

Miller was going to hang 35+ on SV or A&M and now BVM beats that Miller team and you have them losing by 35 now here but having a chance on another thread 5 minutes ago Freaking entertaining as hell for sure! Appreciate it man

SV has a nasty nasty defense this year. It’s an uphill battle for BVM, I’m sure they’ll play with pride but man SV is something else this year.

SV offense matches up well against BVM smaller defense, BVM runs a triple option offense, SV's gap discipline will be tested.

Call the SV coach now and have him get a preacher, priest, voodoo Dr, witch Dr, shawman, or whatever he needs to call and break that ccw curse he just laid on those SV boys.... Poor guys don't know what's lingering over them now... dang shame too lol....

The great thing for SV that they have seen elements of the slot-T twice this year (Wagner, Hays) and very successfully defended it against better athletes (Wagner - Hays, well not as much). Outside of the discipline, the blocking can be different - a lot of cut blocking when they run the triple option. SV will have to adjust between different blocking techniques on triple option, sweep and pass game. Linebackers really have to read the blocking to fit their gaps properly. It's a real chess game, and I gotta hand it to Coach Ram down there in Brownsville - those kids are believing and playing well.

Then he can go back to the other threads and claim he was right.

No doubt Wagner had a lot more speed than BVM but I also think they were bigger up front as well. I think BVM may execute at a higher level though in their blocking schemes. To slow down or stop that BVM offense SV has the EXACT tools in the box. Great front 7 that can severely slow down the run and then a group of DBs that not only cover 1 on 1 well when BVM does pass, those DBs also come up and play damn near like 4 more linebackers with their hitting and tackling. I'm not sure where BVM holds a single edge in this game looking at it man for man and that is NOT good for them because the ONLY teams that beat SV are the ones that hold a LARGE advantage athletically. And even then, SV beats many teams that are bigger and faster than they are. They do this with great coaching putting the kids in the right spots and rarely make mistakes. The more I look at this matchup the more I believe it may get out of hand. I think BVM's only chance of keeping this game close is to hope they can create a 3+ turnover advantage and we all know that once again SV themselves make a living doing exactly this against their opponents.

Agreed - there have been two games this year to my recollection that SV lost the turnover battle - Reagan (-1) and College Station (-1). College Station was their high water mark with 3 turnovers. They should have won the Reagan game, but left 4 points on the field due to kicking malfunctions (backup holder was in, not necessary his fault, but it may have been a factor). The Rangers typically don't beat themselves. I've only been going to games for the last 20 years or so, but I can't recall too many times where they have lost the turnover battle by more than 1. Many times, they have the advantage by 2 or more. It really is a pleasure to watch them play. My kids have long since graduated, I still hold season tickets and travel to many away games cuz that's just the way I'm built! I really want to be there when Coach Hill wins that first championship!

I don’t think BVM can win. Has crazy things happened? Of course. But I’m not counting on it.
I would really like to see them represent South Texas well though. That’s something that hasn’t been happening lately in these deep rounds. Even a 35-21 kind of game could give us all something to nod our heads about. 49-0? Not so much. Maybe the BVM style of play can eat up some clock and limit Smithson Valleys possessions enough to keep it respectable.
