This won’t be the district. Chisholm Trail is dropping. Paschal is dropping. North Crowley cannot be in a district separate from non-directional Crowley (same ISD). I doubt they would have Denton ISD schools with Crowley and Aledo and Weatherford. Too many better options much closer by. Youre right but did post it before any real numbers came out and just thinking of possible 6A district mate's. I've honestly not paid attention to this years realignment once Aledo's playoffs started and not even sure Aledo will move to 6A next season. Do you think they will?

Once Aledo goes 6A the never ending state titles will be more difficult to come by but not impossible. But night will not have fallen on the Bearcats. They will adjust. The Aledo program has already been built to 6A competition. Has been for quite some time now. They’ve taken the same path as Southlake Carroll did when moving up in classification. Only difference is Carroll never won a title at the 4A level. Like Texas and OU going to the SEC, that also means they will attract SEC like talent.

Brad McCone is a heck of a coach. We faced him when he was HC at Crowley. He has been able to experience the kind of success as DC at a high level now, since coming to Aledo. But any Coach coming from somewhere else would.

Was wondering where the Aledo community will compare this year's team with past teams? I personally place them in the top 3 and could be convinced number 1.

Was wondering where the Aledo community will compare this year's team with past teams? I personally place them in the top 3 and could be convinced number 1. That's tough. Just comparing this year's team and last year's team I'm not sure. Last year's team Hejny was just getting started at QB but we did lose the first two games. This year we beat those same two teams. BUT I think both Parish Episcopal and Guyer were weaker this year, so it's not apples to apples. Additionally, Ryan gave us some trouble both years but in particular this year. This year Ryan, who seemed weaker than last year, had the lead AND the ball in the 4th quarter with 3-4 minutes left. And then Ryan still had the lead and had Aledo back in their own territory on 3rd down with a little over a minute left. They were two downs away from beating us. And they had a shot to go back ahead when they got the ball back with more than a minute left. That's the closest to the district win streak being snapped that I've personally seen. This year Lubbock Cooper gave us more trouble than they should have, and Aledo was only up 4 starting the 4th quarter. But last year Midlothian was up by a touchdown with 8-9 mins left in the 4th. Other than that, I think last year has the better signature playoff win (Longview), but this year has the better smackdown on good (but not Longview-good) teams especially in the last 4 playoff games. I think this year is better than last year, but I'm not even 100% sure about that. If you think we're better this year than last year, would you have still said so had Ryan held us off for two more downs? Then again, what if Longview had scored after the rain delay last year? It's that close, 1-2 play difference would have us saying one was better than the other.

Here's my top 4 teams for what it's worth...
1. 2013 All 3 phases of the game were elite with the team setting national school records. HC said it had to be his most complete team at Aledo. Ended up ranked in top 5 in the state. 16-0 with early statement win over Highland Park 44-3
2. 2023 Defense and offense evenly matched with the 2013 team. Special teams excelled but couldn't match the 2013 special team speed. Perhaps one of the best MLB and QB along with the hardest hitting safety in school history. 16-0
3. 2018 Signature wins over D. Guyer (40-0), Bentonville, SOC and Ft Bend Marshall. The team had perhaps the best WR, DE, Center, FS and OLB in school history. 16-0
4. 2010 Best RB in school history. Signature win over Lake Travis (breaking their win streak). Not only best RB but perhaps one of the best WR and shut down CB in school history. 16-0

Signature win over Lake Travis (breaking their win streak). Not only best RB but perhaps one of the best WR and shut down CB in school history. 16-0 What the '23 did down the stretch against Abilene, Forney, and Smithson Valley was extremely impressive. I dont think anyone can argue they were the most talented team in Aledo history. Strictly speaking of how many kids are going to be playing on Saturday. However, I dont think the offense or defense matched the 2013 team whatsoever. Defense was not as opportunistic and the offense had a turnover problem at the end of the year. Special teams was not good. To me one of the worst in recent memory. You'd hold your breath every time we punted the ball. Also we were pretty average in the kick return game. If the 2023 and the 2018 teams played each other I think the '18 team would win. 2010 team being 4th is interesting. Matt Bishop said in an interview that he'd take the 2011 team over the other two he played on. I took that into account when I made my list. Yet again, I think a senior class with M.Bishop, Gray, Mann, J. Cater, Dayne Davis, ect would beat '23.
