Aledo Alumni, I really enjoy watching Bearcat videos and thank you for posting them. You really got me thinking when you said on another post that at this moment you think LV has a better shot at playing PSJA North than we do. Aledo does have some issues to clean up but the eye test tells me Aledo is a much better team at this moment then we were at this moment last year. And I think that this years Longview team is extremely talented and playing well but not as good as their last year's team. Just wondering why you you place LV ahead of Aledo at this moment?

I don't think our run defense will be as good. Plus LV play calling is better than it was last year. If we load the box, I think they have enough at QB to make us pay. Plus I have a feeling we will try to get outside on that defense and won't be able to. Just match up problems. We have struggled at times with Parish, Guyer and Northwest. LV is better than all those teams. We still have time to improve and we will need to. But at this moment I'd take LV.

No doubt Tatum will get his yards and yes our defense line is young they are very athletic. Plus LV offense line isn't a dominating force as in the past and I'm honestly not real confident in their qb play. This year we are significantly better at the running game, QB play and passing game. I know we would have to score more than 17 points but I think we would. I give our offense the advantage and the defense a draw. So at this moment I'd take Aledo. But take nothing for granted.

I hear you and believe some of your points to be valid. I just think defense and running the ball travels very well. LV has that in spades.

AA, I thought after last seasons game against The Colony is when Aledo turned the corner. Any thoughts on this years game? The Colony played Red Oak close, lost to Centennial by 2 scores but beat Ryan. As of now I would place them 4th best in the district. Watching part of their Ryan game, I didn't get a feel if they were really good or Ryan just had a bad game (or both). Would like to know what you think.

The coaches wont let Aledo come unprepared or unmotivated to win. I actually expect us to show up and play well. I only watched the last 4 minutes of The Colony game and dont know if they are better than Northwest. However if we struggle with TC then that will be concerning.

Congratulations to Aledo's #3 (LSU commit) who recently received a Stanford football scholarship. The young man is an exceptional athlete and student.
Aledo will be recognizing and honoring the Aledo Bearcat 1998 & 2013 State Championship teams, Friday, Oct 13, 2023 (10th and 25th Anniversary Celebration). It will be a fun time.

Good point that our quality of depth is a indicator we are drifting to 6A. I'm thinking district 3 is where we end up if we go to 6A next season. Best shot to get #12 would be this year but it wouldn't surprise me to see us challenge for a title in 6A division-II with our upcoming Jr/Soph class.
Do you know if J. Gray is still on the coaching staff?

They remind me of this senior class. Lots of quality kids. -I heard Johnathan was not back. I figured he would have wanted to stay on long term and eventually be the Head Coach but I dont know.

With last nights win over South Hills, Aledo is officially playoff bound! I think that makes it 28 seasons in a row!

This team compared to last year through the first 7 games:
'22
Record 5-2 Points For- 328 Points against- 122
'23
Record 7-0 Points For- 387 Points against- 114
Our passing and run game has been better so far in '23 but I dont think our run defense has been as good. Still got a month until the tournament to work on things. If we get everyone healthy then that will go a long way to making it back to Bearcat East.
