With only 34 players in the picture, I'm guessing this is only the seniors?

Not to put pressure on this team or coaching staff but occurred to me, this might be the last decent chance for a state title. Seems like we go 6A next realignment then eventually we split and the dynasty will be over. Gotta enjoy it while it last!

Wanted to share a couple of thoughts about the schedule next season. Stephenville (scrimmage)- Any time you have a chance to beat Stephenville you take it. Even if its not official. All indications suggest that the scrimmage went well. 7-1 in the untimed portion then 10-0 in the live quarter. Lets go ahead and check off beating a former rival.

Seems like we go 6A next realignment then eventually we split and the dynasty will be over. Gotta enjoy it while it last! I happen to think that when Aledo goes 6A they’ll be ready to compete at that level. They basically already are and have been. Will it be more difficult to win titles at the next level? I don’t think anybody doubts that. I also think that when it does come time to split, AISD will be smart about it and arrange things so that both schools have the best opportunity to be competitive at a high level. If they were to split today, the numbers would put them probably at the 5A DII level similar to Burleson when they split with Centennial. However, with the growth that has begun to show up and I anticipate will continue no telling where the two Aledo schools will end up. As I’ve said before, I have family in Walsh Ranch and a young niece and nephew in the district. If you ever take the time to actually venture through where the developments are coming in you will quickly see that there is land a plenty, as far as the eye can see. I anticipate seeing more commercial development along the I-20 corridor in the years to come as well. I think you will see a continual influx of folks who can afford it, looking to get out further away from the hustle and bustle of Fort Worth and even other surrounding cities that have become overcrowded. I think it would be foolish for one to think that Aledo cannot still be very competitive. But perhaps I am the eternal optimist.

I can see Aledo splitting and having a Westlake/Lake Travis type situation. (Not that those two came from a Westlake split) What I mean is the kids and community will have 2 great programs, and the rivalry will be some great contests.
It would be interesting to see if further splits happen. Basically creating an all Aledo competitive district down the road. Be it 5A or 6A in the schools, I feel like they would be able to be elite no matter what happens.
It's neat seeing some of these schools go up through the ranks with dominance in the different classifications. I mean Aledo was once a 1A school playing in State in 1974, and now about to split into possibly 2 6A schools. Teams Like SLC, that won it all in 3A all through 6A. Liberty Hill and Lake Travis also rising from 3A into 6a and 5A schools, one of which is about to split off as well. Melissa as well... I'm sure there's more, but those are the one's I remember off hand.
Aledo's community is passionate enough to support any number of teams and schools, and the talent and desire to be the best will be in ea h school as well.

Couple of questions heading into next season: 3) Who will be the two WRs that will win the starting jobs? Aledo lost a lot of production from that position due to graduation. Need a couple of kids to step up and contribute. Seems like the lead candidates are a 6'3 kid returning from injury and our former RB1 moving positions. Pair that with a quality catching TE and the super sophomore. Our passing game should be in good shape. I also think they might let #2 (starting CB) rotate in at WR. If #2 plays some WR that allows #7 to sub in play corner. In any normal year #7 would be a starting CB but for the first time in Aledo history to my knowledge we have two Power 5 D1 corners starting.

Well AA,its just around the corner with a new AD and a new coach and a lot of talent coming back. A repeat is possible . I will be 81 when the season starts and I would like to see them take it all once more. Enjoy your posts. The 2013 team is the crème de la crème in Aledo football history. Offensively scoring 1,023 points, defensively allowing 147 points, and special teams were outstanding. Special teams stats: 132 extra points made, 13 of 15 field goals made, 8 punt/kick returns for a TD, and Aledo only punted 17 times. This is the most complete team Aledo has ever had. I bring up the 2013 team because I believe this 2023 team has the potential to be another complete and extremely dominate team. First thing first, this district is more difficult than the Fort Worth district that the kids in 2013 played. So do I think they could match the numbers of 2013? No, I dont. However, when you think about the talent on this team, they could win all three phases in every game. Offense: The line returns four starters from the state championship game. They were a solid group that kept improving week after week. Hopefully they can take the next step and take over games, go from good to great. They will need to be consistent pass blockers and be nasty in the run game. If they can do their part then I have no doubt the skill kids are talented enough to score a lot of points. QB1 is a former WR that is an athletic kid. He is a legit dual threat player who started the season on shaky ground. At times he would force the ball and make suboptimal decisions but that goes along with having a new starter at QB. Ultimately, he settled in and was very impressive. This season it will be interesting if he spreads the ball around and gets more pass catchers involved. We have several playmakers out wide that have great hands and can score. A very reliable and hard working TE, a super sophomore WR, former RB1 and explosive playmaker moving out wide, and a 6'3 kid returning from injury who was already making plays this spring. No reason why our passing game is not top notch. Now we can talk about the runners, two new kids to the Aledo program. Both ran for over 1k yards at their former school. I think both RBs will bring a tough running sytle and will be tone setters on offense. www.hudl.com/video/3/18775343/63aa6ed8b53ee408500d2b76Defense: It all starts up front with the DL. Admittedly, I do not know much about the DTs but I do have a good idea about the DEs. They will have two talented sophomores and a junior that will rotate. I do expect the sack numbers to increase from last season. The LBs will be lead by a LSU commit and multi-year starter on the defense. He creates turnovers and pair him with two new starters who are active players, I think this group can be a very good set of LBs. As I mentioned in a previous post, this secondary unit is the most talented group of starters (per college offers). Both CBs have power 5 offers, SS has a D1 offer and FS has a D2 offer. We have quality depth in the secondary and they should be rolling starting week 1. The biggest question will be, can they become game changers and create more turnovers? Not only intercept passes and recover fumbles but then go score. That was very evident when you watched the 2013 team. They had the ability to put points on the board. The 2023 defense as a whole is talented enough to score points and be suffocating but they have to prove it. Last year the defense gave up 261 points, I'd bet the under this season. www.hudl.com/video/3/18768414/639805ee3448920f2c002683Special teams: This is where I think the biggest difference will be between 2013 and 2023. The 2013 team scored 8 TDs on returns. I dont think 2023 will have near that success in the return game. They are solid but based off last year, they dont have a Ryan Newsome type playmaker. And thats ok. Solid special teams and winning field position late in the year makes a big difference. You always worry about the kicking game but it seems like Aledo will have a good kicker this year. This 2023 team is good but they are nowhere near 2013. I really thought they could be dominant but they don't have that killer instinct like 2013 had. Should have compared them to another team. Maybe 2014.

I agree but still early in the season and like you said this years district is much tougher than the 2013 schedule. And the good news, I believe the 2023 team is better then the 2022 team after the 3rd game of the schedule.
