Because it's stupid as F for a team to play on a Wednesday. And it's stupid as F for one team to travel 8 hours while the other travels 15 minutes. You are getting answers you just aren't liking them because they don't fall in line with the puppet masters. If you had final say would you make it like it use to be? Having the title games all over instead of one location. Yes. Where it should be played should be decided between the 2 teams involved not by corrupt individuals and networks.

Cochino, my friend, your rant about homefield distances didnt have anything to do with Hound's commentary on the logistical nightmare he referred to. Hound made a valid point about the game start times, which I think the powers that be recognized after 2015. It's not stupid for the 2A schools to play Wednesday according to the schools impacted, they were consulted prior to the change and were ok with it because they want to play at the same spots as everyone else. Same with the 1A schools, so if they are fine with it isn't that all that matters? Who is being asked these questions on your "random" lol polls? It seems like common f-ing sense if you ask me that the 2 TEAMS INVOLVED SHOULD DECIDE ON THE LOCATION NOT FOX, NOT THE UIL, NOT WHERE HAVING THE GAMES MAKES FOX AND JERRY THE MOST MONEY.

But then the local DFW folks wouldn't be able to see all the games in person and still be able to sleep in their own beds every night. While the rest of us spend lots of money on travel, hotel, food and dump a huge amount of money into the DFW Metroplex economy. Their Arrogant, Egotistical ways necessitate their need for everything to come to them. So they don't have to waste effort on being anything but superior to the rest of the globe.

The coaches and administrators of the schools are the ones polled...the six-man coaches association has been very clear about their desire to be treated equally to the eleven man schools. The 2A/3A schools have all been polled and the vast majority do not want to be moved to a different site, I understand you a skeptic at heart and dont believe anything I'm saying and that's fine, I still like you my friend. In my conversations with coaches at those levels there seems to be a definite majority that they are 1) ok with single site 2) dont mind playing Wed/Thur if it means they get the big stage like the others. This pains me to say, but the two schools will never decide the site of the title games again, that ship has sailed, the coaches who didnt like it have realized it and have moved on. Being upset about it is the equivalent of the Simpsons bit where the old man is yelling at the clouds.

To make up for it I travel 15 weeks out of the year and dump my pennies into others local economies. Just playing my small part.

I heard UIL was moving from Austin to DFW because they love it there so much. 🙄

I'm interested in the logisitcal nightmare part as well....what has given you that impression? Because it's stupid as F for a team to play on a Wednesday. And it's stupid as F for one team to travel 8 hours while the other travels 15 minutes. You are getting answers you just aren't liking them because they don't fall in line with the puppet masters. Cochino The only reason we have this one location thing now is because most other states do it and the UIL thought it would be cool to do it for Texas. Thing is most of those other states it can take only four to six hours hours of drive to time to get from one state line to another where we don’t have that luxury here in Texas. That’s why it made prefect sense to have both play at a mutually agreed location which most of the time was halfway for each team. If we went back to this, the UIL could still broadcast each game thanks to streaming. Some of them might not be Fox Sports quality type stuff. But some of the streaming I’ve seen of playoff games on Texan Live for example even puts the state championship broadcasts I’ve seen of other states to shame.

North Crowley beat Texas High the night before we played Bay City. Scuttlebutt was that we had lost the coin flip and if we won our game we would be playing at old Texas Stadium. We lost, so it didn’t matter, but the point is that even when the coaches got to decide, it didn’t mean they picked a stadium with both communities in mind. You still flipped a coin and spoils went to the winner.
With that being said, i decided to call my brother who played against Aledo and asked him if he would have rather played them in SA, and he said no real quick. He made it very clear that it was awesome playing there and he wouldn’t have changed that.
Although, it does kind of suck for us fans. I’d love to drive an hour and a half and watch a days worth of State Championships. But in the end we have Baffin and DFW doesn’t, so we win.

I think all the boys felt the same way. It was truly an experience.

Texas High's QB got pulled off the bus right before they were heading out to play North Crowley...they woulda won back to back titles that year IMO if the QB wasn't a moron and got caught with weed

I’m pretty sure a young Ryan Mallett had to take over for him.

I thought Ryan Mallett was a better hs player in '06. I was even cheering for Cove because I thought we could beat them to go to state.

They'd also love to party at the Playboy Mansion afterwards... that doesn't make it right.
