I dont remember any formal surveys done recently...typically these changes would come about during THSCA regional meetings and then brought to the football advisory committee....in the regional meetings that just took place I personally didnt hear about any real complaints about anything involving the state title games....could be apathy as a lot of the coaches who coach at places who have no chance to make a run dont really care about title game locations or it could be the majority are ok with the arrangement and dont mind.

Were these sites the poor souls from the DFW area had to venture south of Hillsboro predetermined by the UIL? Or was it a flip of the coin for a home/neutral? If so, then it's irrelevant to the current issue. You see, it's this type of statement that gets some of you from the DFW metroplex on the crap lists. This and the "it should be held in the DFW area because attendance sucks elsewhere." Which I stand by my statement the game receipts are pennies or n nickles in the whole revenue stream when all is said and done. I still like to see what Fox is paying the UIL for the broadcasts rights plus if it's on the condition it's held at AT&T Stadium. When we see statements like that which are countered by in other parts of the state by folks with a vested interest in the championships such as having a kid on the team or involved in band, cheer, etc., you all just say suck it up and live with it. Do any of you know a two day trip to the DFW area around Christmas can cost a small fortune? It might be chump change for people who live in Highland Park or Allen, but for someone from Refugio it's a good chunk of their income. Yea and in 2017 I can guarantee you after what Harvey did that to area, it was very much a strain on some of those budgets. True if we were in a rotation system back then, it could have been DFW's area turn anyway. But by chance if it had been in SA or Houston, it would have been a simple day trip for most of their fans . Even during the normal times, it's a strain on their budgets. This is in addition to the ridiculous idea to have the lower class games on Wednesday and Thursday because your asking some folks who are working class to possibly either miss some of their paycheck or stay home and watch which I bet a number have to do the later. They are not business owners or THE Boss to where they can clear their work week with a snap of their fingers unlike some of those who live in the more wealthy zip codes. That's not playing on class envy or anything, it's just a fact. I would love to see one of you guys from the sports media approach the UIL about some of the perceptions out there about how they slant this thing to favor one part of the state now on a regular basis. Just because it's not the chatter of the message boards or not showing up on a poll with no standard polling methods attached to it doesn't mean it's not talked about by us who are the unwashed in football flyover country. Football is the one unique sport in all the championships were things like rest, recovery and prep time are an important part of the game. When one team has a full four or five days to prepare and sleep in their own quarters and the other has three to do so and has to sleep in unfamiliar quarters, it has an effect. These are not college or pro teams where long distance road trips are half the season. Plus they are playing teams who in effect make AT&T their alternative home stadium (see Highland Park for one example) with multiple appearances either during the regular season or playoffs which is also a big part of the home field thing being a big advantage for the DFW area powers who usually end up in the state title games. At the very least the UIL should not allow AT&T to be used as a playoff venue during the duration if they are trying to make the back yard of these teams who get to take a fifteen minute bus ride as neutral as possible. Again, most of these kids have never played in a stadium which seats more that 15k to 20k much less one that seats 90k. Familiarity with surroundings matters. Actually these game locations were pre-determined by the UIL just like it is now, the only difference is it was the state's largest classification only. I dont recall too much complaining from the Trinity, Allen, Southlake or Wylie folks on message boards I was on at the time. I dont think the coaches cared much either. As for the UIL, I honestly dont believe they'll make any changes to the system as is unless the coaches and schools rise up and complain. I've in the past asked about a rotation in press conferences and the usual answer is they review the potential venues at the end of each contract. As for the lower classes, the majority of the schools want to play at the same venues as the 6A/5A schools and are ok with the trade-off playing Wed/Thur....when the UIL had the smaller classes at the other venue in 2010, the 3A and 2A schools hated it....there was discussion in THSCA regional meetings a couple years back about playing 2A and 3A at the Ford Center on Fri and Sat and it was so overwhelmingly negative they never even took it for a vote. Unless the small schools en masse go to the UIL and say "we dont want to play on Wed/Thur" or all the schools in Region 3 and Region 4 band together and demand a rotation its not going to change. Wednesday games are the 1A games and 2A D2. 1A schools don’t play the weekend prior. Isn’t it true that most 2A D2 schools play on Thursdays for a good chunk of the playoffs, especially towards the end? Thursday to Wednesday isn’t bad in respect to having enough rest.

If you don’t like where the state championships are played, call/write to your AD/Supt. to go fix it.

the 2A Wednesday night game rotates...this year it'll be 2A D1...Mart has had to play on Wednesday night the last two years because they dropped to D2 last alignment.
Both 2A D2 semifinal games were played on Thur night last year..and all four regional finals were played on Thursday night as well. I know I had a good chat with Kevin Hoffman at our coaches social in Houston last week and asked him about Wednesday night, he said its definitely not his favorite thing, but he also said he'd rather play at the same place as everyone else than play somewhere else on a Friday.

I agree. All these people from R4 want the game at NRG need to write their AD/Supt. At least attempt to make a change. Doing it on here wont get them anywhere.

Bingo....the UIL is a member based organization, if their members aren't happy they make changes...if the members are happy then they aren't going to rock the boat......
