Heck if you're gonna have predetermined sites use college stadiums... Tech, A&M, UT, TCU, Alamodome (UTSA'd homefield I believe isn't it?), Baylor, Cotton Bowl, and then 6-man just play at 6-man stadiums seriously... They play 6 man cause their district doesn't have enough kids to play 11 man football... So therefor to play in a huge stadium is ridiculous. The whole towns for both teams may total 800 people... Plus they play on smaller fields so is Jerry really going to make special fields to put down and move his goal posts for 6-man? Those schools are not that wealthy..

Don't like it. At&t stadium is too far from the center of the state and too expensive. Certainly favors the DFW area as for travel. Houston would be good, Alamo dome would be good, spread the wealth. Heck austin, Waco, all would be good and have more than capable stadiums.

He is not talking about district championships......he's talking about the UIL and the reason for the central site being $$$$$$$$$. In no way was he putting down any school. Congrats on the state record on consecutive district championships though. Hell of an achievement for sure. we've been on so many different planes with this thread, I was making the point that if the UIL didn't care about $$$$$$$$$ then only district champs would make the playoffs. Yes sir, that is exactly what I meant responding to GPK's post. It is all about the $$$$ with the UIL.........no different than the NCAA or the NFL!!

If they were to pick a "permanent" central site and that decision wasn't about money, it would probably be DKR. I sort of like the idea one poster had of having predetermined sites and rotating them around. How about this: you have a doubleheader at five different stadiums (for argument's sake, let's say Cowboys, Reliant, Alamodome, DKR, Kyle Field) and rotate each year. So one year, Cowboys has the 5A championships, the next year they have 4A, etc. You might even throw Jones Stadium in Lubbock in the mix. This would be much better than what they've got going on now IMO. But, I'm old school and I believe it should be up to the two coaches involved in each game to decide on where to play it......just like the other rounds of the playoffs. If they want to flip home & away, home/neutral, or simply agree upon a neutral site.....whatever, provided the two coaches have decided the site of the ball game. I for one do not care about the glitz and glitter of a stadium. I care about having enough seating capacity, having ample nearby parking (walking distance), having good/reasonable concessions.....& PLAYING FOOTBALL! Again, Jerry's play pen is unreal, but to be completely honest I HATE that giant tv screen. I find myself watching the damn screen during live action as much or more than I do the field.......and when you are in the 2nd level up that gets worse! I like replays and all but I go to the games to watch the kids live, not on a damn screen. LMAO 45k-50k seating will suffice whether it's in a damn corn field or a domed stadium!

Since we have great public universities in Texas why should we have to pay to play in a private stadium? Come to think of it, not only did tax money build them didn't the taxpayers pay for At&t also? Seems like we already paid.

Looked up South Carolina HS football championships location.
All Championships are played in Columbia which is the dead center of the state. 7 Title Games Split between William Bryce Stadium(Gamecocks)and Benedict College a DII Facility.

It was a horrible experience 2 years ago, we rented a ground level box right where the Refugio team came out, had our own bathroom and food catered with a case of beer iced down. Couldn't go out on the patio without pouring the beer in a cup though. I forced myself to drink a few of them beers, oh and 2 big screen Tvs one of the game they where seeing at home and one of any channel the kids wanted to see. It was plum torcher. LOL
