Tom and Clemensbuff, I understand where you guys are coming from. Teams like Steele and Guyer are very deep in talent, and are elite programs. Teams down here have to rely on their sub varsities for our future. The exception may be Flour Bluff. FB has a lot of guys in the program now. Varsity, junior varsity A and B, freshmen A and B, 8th grade A and B, 7th grade A, B and C teams. If underclassmen have the talent and ability they will get some time on varsity. For instance FB might go with a soph QB this year to get some varsity time that got some mop up time against Harlendale last second round play offs. Some guys are just that good and it helps when they get their turn, they already have a good idea. We have the same programs as well. Since Soza arrived, it seems that we are getting bigger numbers. I think we have 51 kids on the varsity this year. I don't think we are as deep in talent as Flour Bluff though.

That's pretty normal up here... last year I believe four schools in 5-4A had two JV squads, and all but one had two freshman squads. Denton ISD is finally getting the middle school attendance zones lined up, so Guyer will have two feeder middle school programs; Denton High will have two and split another with Ryan if I'm not mistaken. Wichita Falls has their "open enrollment" program that means the high schools literally have no feeders, lol.

Back in my day, we didn't start actually playing games until the 8th grade. We had an orange and white team at that level. We had a bunch of great players quit in their freshman and sophomore years because the practices were brutal and they weren't starters at the time. Those were the days where water wasn't allowed in practice.

I finally got a couple screen caps of Burger Stadium. If we could get the field turf replaced, a new renovated pressbox and some paint on the concrete/fence, I'd be happy.

Well, I understand that... what I mean is that in DFW, most schools have two JV teams and two freshman teams, so having extras isn't much of an advantage. Hell, some of the 5A programs in DFW have three freshman teams (Southlake Carroll, for one.) Of course, in DFW, having only one JV team puts you at a disadvantage.
