Greeting my friends in South Texas and the Redneck Riviera known as the Coastal Bend. I've been in Hong Kong and Macau, but I'm back!
Football is just around the corner and I see your UIL has messed with your districts again. How in the world they can place the folks from Flour Bluff, Texas with the Laredo schools in beyond me. because of that long drive? But I know my good friend on here, I belive his name is Mr Duval, has a ranch out there, so perhaps he'll be good to you Bluff people and invite you over for a ice cold Lone Star or Pearl. Those are my favorite brews when I come down to Texas and to the border.
Looking into my crystal ball, I see some surprise in place for the 4a districts down there.
Let's start off with 30.
1) Calallen. I got them on my list for a state title appearence. 2) Lavaca Calahoun- Drops off a tad, but they are solid none the less
The next three of the following could battle for third or be left out all together 3) Victoria East - new coach might be a problem 4) Gregory from Portland- is still rebuilding 5) Tooolso Midway- Might have finally found a coach that can build a program
6) Beeville- Total rebuild mode 7) Victoria West- who knows?
District 31
1) Flour Bluff- no contest 2) Laredo Richard Nixon 3) Laredo Cigs 4) Alice- Uh oh...... 5) CC Ray- Do they still wear those candy stripes? 6) CC Moody- I thought they only played baseball? Did they get a new coach? 7) CC Miller- I'm surprised they are back in 4A. Nice run by their basketball team.

Welcome back Geek! I can see you're already in mid-season form by your predictions. I'll take a bet that G-P is not still rebuilding and when they play Calallen at home on October 19th, the winner of that game will be the district champion. I'll predict East, Calhoun, & Beeville(not T-M) will be battling for the 3rd & 4th playoff spots. Keep your predictions coming this season, I'm planning on making a killing betting opposite of what you predict...

I see Calallen taking the district title and making a deep run. However, I don't know if they have any speedsters like Price coming up the pipeline. That dude really made a difference in the playoff for Cal. No doubt they will be tough though. I think GP surprises some people this year. They seemed to get better toward the end of last season. Calhoun will be tough as well. This will be an interesting district to watch!

A cold LS or Pearl sittin' on the ranch house porch in Duval County.........it just don't get any better then that!!! 30: Calallen and GP fight it out for the district title and the loser gets 2nd IMO. Then comes VE & PLC for 3rd and 4th spots in the playoffs. 31: FB will cruise to the district title..........and I don't see a close game on the schedule.

I like the way Clemens thinks. I'm with his pics. But PLC will be tough. Calalen has never played in the crab bowl?

Welcome back Jimmy and everyone is always welcome for a cold Lone Star or Pearl. The colder the season gets, the better the chance of a cameo by Mr. Jack Daniels also.
I like your picks and I do think T-M will rally around otter...a home grown hero and fellow alum! I wish him all the best.
GP needs to add another set of plays to the double wing motion play that got Starcher hurt in our game with them last year. That was the only play they ran out of that set and way too easy to snuff out. There was a reason why our SS was sitting there waiting...blame that one on Coach A. They will win a game that they aren't supposed to next year...let's see which one it is...could be a serious spoiler if they stick with one QB.
Moody though...will have Cantu at QB and probably move Ricky to fullback. They still won't have the horses, but will have a very good athlete running the O.
Thanks for the input and your cerveza fria will be waiting.

Once again and as boog pointed out plc and cal were in the same district in the late 80s-1990 (89 season was the last season) and that was when plc was everyone's homecoming including Robstown and TM and if they couldn't play plc then the picked TM and Robstown pretty much in that order. That place was really awesome to visit as a scout because they fed you very well in the press box.... That little restaurant by the field had a great chicken fried steak too....

Coyotes under the radar...just like we want it... Sept 7th will tell alot. Aug 31 will tell you a lot. Alexander aint a bad football team at all! They are getting better with each year although I expect a dropoff a bit this year with the loss of their all-everything QB to graduation. We played them at their place last year in the 3rd round and we jumped all over them in the 1st quarter offensively and then let our D take care of the rest. I don't think Alice is flyin' under anyone's radar at all. In fact, I'm waiting for them to come together under Soza the way I feel they will and be a factor in the 4a playoffs. Will it be this year???

We got some good speed coming back and moving up who can fill some of that void. I'm more excited about the defense.

Not sure about The Greeks picks.... in 31, I have to think Alice will be better than FORTH And Laredo Ciggarora at 3rd? Not buying that at all. In 30, he has East ranked way too high and Beeville ranked to low. Hey Greek! I do hear the fishing is good off the Northshore Country Club side of the bay!

I am hearing Nixon will be the best of the Laredo Three Amigos but have no clue if that is true.
