I had to dig for that, scraped it off the Wagner football website, and it was the only info I could find - I don't even know what city they are from. I like your picks except maybe the MacArthur game Lee is pretty sorry too.

Looks like the Wagner vs MX Football game has been cancelled. Appears that Wagner will be limited to 2 pre-district games.

But, you would think that week 1 would be the easiest of all non-district games to schedule so why go for a game like this anyway? smdh Did you watch Pieper/Boerne last night and if so, your thoughts??

At least Monterrey Tech is reasonably close, but a team coming from Mexico City is just far and it doesn’t surprise me that their game fell through. I hope Wagner can pick up a Week 1 game next year. I was impressed with Boerne’s ability to go toe to toe with Pieper. Makes me realize that it was accurate was I observed from Boerne when New Braunfels played them and in the scrimmage. Not sure why Pieper had multiple special teams errors early on. And I didn’t get to watch much of the second half. So not much to comment on there. Way to hold the fort for the district Pieper.

Very Interesting: Pieper - Pluses: They more than held their own versus a very good running team in Boerne, with a very strong OLine. It also appears they have found a good successor to their departed Sr QBs from last year. The receivers are talented, although they get a reduced grade for a couple of drops. Their play versus the run as outstanding, and #44 is a beast! Minuses: Team discipline - penalties! But they can clean that up, and with that coaching staff they probably will. Another minus is the coaching staff - namely the strategy. I wouldn't manage the game the way they do consisyently. They are big on discipline (Cedar Park roots) and are very creative on Offense and on Defense. But the way they manage the extra points and the clock mystifies me sometimes. Another disadvantage for pieper is the height of the defensive back 7 - they have some short dudes back there. I remember the 2007 SV quarterfinal team vs Madison - the Rangers had a bunch of short Kings in the DB room and it cost them a game they lead the enire day until overtime. The Pieper secondary didn't seem to react well to the ball in the air on deep throws, and as lucky that Boerne missed a wide open receiver that had gotten behind them in the 4th quarter. If those are your best players, you have to play them - but they may need to adjust the technique they play back there. Pieper and Boerne both played pretty well - these are nits, and a lot of this will get cleaned up by next week. I think Pieper is in the race for this district til the end, Boerne will be hell in their district as well. The Boerne-Alamo Heights and Pieper - Smithson Valley games should both be classics.

Victoria East didn't exactly get off to a good start vs Georgetown. VE kicked off and yielded a touchdown on the ensuing drive. They then muffed the next two kickoffs, yielding touchdowns on both those drives. They were down 23-0 before they ran an offensive play. The first Offensive play resulted in an interception and that ensuing drive resulted in - you guessed it, another touchdown. Georgetown 30 VE 0 7:55 left in the 1st quarter.
Jeez...

Good night across the district with the exception of Victoria East and Seguin. New Braunfels laid the wood to Madison, B-C wins comfortably to add to the SV and Pieper wins last night. MacA plays tomorrow, and Wagner had a bye

New Braunfels really had a dominant performance vs San Antonio Madison. It’s crazy how far the Mavericks have fallen. They used to be state contenders.
Unicorns did about as well as they could in their 5A debut. Short of a few penalties and getting stopped at the 1 just before halftime, it was a pretty solid performance, especially considering season openers. This may be one of the best season openers I’ve seen in a while. Still doesn’t top beating Denton Ryan a few years ago but it’s right up there.
HC Brad Molder had a great debut and I’m sure he was a huge reason the Unicorns did so well. New coach, new classification, so new expectations. This is going to be a tough district.

It's good to start fast with a new HC - I would worry that the new systems could cause confusion. On a personal side, when I played HS, we got an entire new staff before my Soph year. Lost the first 4 games and looked bad doing it - won the last 6! With regard to Madison - do you wish they had given you a better game? I came away from SVs victory over Roosevelt feeling that way. I know SV will get all they can handle next week vs Brennan, but I would have liked to get a better test on week 1. I'm sure Canyon will give the Unicorns a test next week, especially their defense which should be pretty good in comparison with Madison.
