Greg Tepper at DCTF picked SV over Pieper - it was his #1 game of the week. Pieper split off from the SV attendance zone - imagine, if they were combined the team they could be in 6A! Yup It would have been great to have that team in our district for sure. I honestly look at these 2 teams and think if they were combined about 1/2 the starters would be from SV and half from Pieper with SV probably having a couple more. Both teams I feel are about that equal. I do like SV in this game though but think it should be close. I just think SV will do the 'little' things better than Pieper on the field and the SV staff > the Pieper staff I'm hopimg you are right! This reminds me of the old days with your schools, Judson, NB in 6A during the 2010's. Each week was a true battle, and if you didn't prepare well or play well, you could get beat. It's great when you have that edge every week, and great for playoff mindsets - if you've been doing it all year, it's no different during the playoffs. During SVs playoff run last year, we didn't steamroll everybody. The games vs Magnolia West, A&M and CS were nip and tuck, but the district and the predistrict helped SV perservere.

Those were some great district game battles back then and it really prepared the teams for the playoffs. My son's Jr year (2015) showed it best with Judson/SV playing for the R4 6a D1 title and Steele/Clemens playing for the R4 6aD2 title. Our district ran the table in R4 that year!

For anyone who goes to a game at Pieper in the future, the parking makes New Braunfels look more than adequate (anyone who's been to a game there can assess how ridiculous that statement is!). Get here early! 45 minutes early wasn't early enough for me!

Seguin 73, Champion 66 Wagner 55, MacArthur 3 Peiper 39, Smithson Valley 36 New Braunfels 23, Victoria 21
One major upset and one….not so much. I had Peiper by 7 in that one. But I had Champion by 17…..jeez I knew there was no D in Champion Chargers but they didn’t have to prove it.

Get here early! 45 minutes early wasn't early enough for me! NO WAY! Not possible. Especially considering New Braunfels HS is under renovation and expansion so the parking is worse still. But when it’s done in a few years, there should be double the parking capacity. But I guess I’ve been warned. NB travels to Pieper in a few weeks.

New Braunfels and Victoria East had a very turnover prone game. East managed to score off a Pick 6 and fake punt to take a 14-7 lead. NB D shouldered much of the team, where East didn’t manage to make a first down until well into the 3rd quarter. It’s frustrating to see NB get within yards of a TD, only to be turned away or fumble. NB’s offense didn’t score the entire second half as the Victoria East D clenched the Unicorns.
Neither team looked stellar. But Seguin’s win vs Boerne Champion tells me that Seguin, New Braunfels, Victoria East and Boerne Champion are sitting on a playoff bubble below SV, Pieper and Wagner. MacArthur will not be in the mix this year, it seems.
