I went to Alice this weekend to visit family. I took in about 15 minutes of the scrimmage. I mean, it's an intrasquad scrimmage. There's not much to see, but the team appears to have quickness and size upfront. I do hope as the year progresses the line gets in better shape. Miggy was a big boy last year but he was also rock solid. I saw some new faces on the coaching staff. Any idea who these new coaches are?

i went to the scrimmage. i thought it was ok. I thought the first offense of drive was good passes to asevedo and the running play for a td was good. Coaches philosophy of being disciplined was on show also. We had a player getting unruly and he wasny having it. definitely liked that from my opinion. there was alot of mixing and matching so hard to give a good opinion. #6 rb and played safety played good all over the field. I sat behind cooky and was listening to him talk about the team. i agreed with him that if the oline can do their part and block we will be ok. and there was some pretty good size kids. Asevedo is gonna be a big key to this team this year on both sides of the ball. I heard Cooky say #6 is from OG and has a younger brother who is big ole boy. As the season gets rolling i fully think this team is gonna do just fine. gotta stay healthy only concern is how many boys with be going both ways in 5a if that will hurt us. time will tell I liked #2's vocals. He was always talking. I like leadership like that. ya i think there is gonna be some good leadership

Loved the demand of discipline at the scrimmage from Castellano also. Nobody likes to see a key player getting in trouble this early but it is what it is and it's great to see the Head Coach always addressing it.

Did anyone go to the scrimmage?
Thoughts? Concerns? Knee jerk over reactions?

Did anyone go to the scrimmage? Thoughts? Concerns? Knee jerk over reactions? I went. Alice has a lot of work to do, especially in the secondary. The defense looked solid up front, but it was Bishop. Offensively the 1's looked okay, especially in the running game. #25 is a beast and even though it was Bishop, teams will have trouble stopping him #6 the sophomore also looked good as did Trejo. Alice doesn't have much size. They may have 2 kids in the 6'2"- 6-3 range. Alice won 3-1, but it should have been by more. If they don't get that secondary fixed, teams like Sinton and GP will light Alice up. Again just a scrimmage, but overall I wasn't impressed.

i went tonight. first string alice 3 bishop 1. 2nd string Alice i think had 2 and bishop 0. there was no quarter played. For the most part Alice dominated. had some big plays but alot of plays pretty much sustained drives with scores. Defensively fet like we could of been better felt like by the end we were starting to hit and swarm to the ball. it was hard to get a good read on how good we really r because of who we played. but we didnt struggle so thats good. felt like #6 ran good if he was just a little faster but definitely take it. i like seeing #25 run the ball dude is a beast. i didnt see #2 out there tonight. but saw him in the stands when i was walking out not sure whts up with that. i give props to bishop they played hard.

Yeah didn't see #2 out there. The secondary really concerns me. Too damn many blown coverages and if the Bishop QB missed some opportunities on some wide open receivers. Also getting the vibe that there is no senior leadership. If Alice can get that secondary fixed, they might have a pretty good team. But it was Bishop, and yes it was just a scrimmage.
