there was a good turnout of fans. overall my opinion was definitely looked better the last years opening practice, but new coach last year thats to be expected. qb looked good. running backs looked quick off the ball. looks like #25 from last year is gonna be the starter as of now. he looks a little thicker definitely will help him this year. recievers which will be young looked pretty decent catching and running routes. (better then i expected). o-line for the most part look a little leaner, good height, seems to be quicker off the ball. team seemed to move through stations well. i didnt see much defense because i had to go to work. the vib was good and u can tell discipline has been instilled in these boys. i wouldnt doubt by the end of the season this team can be rolling in the right direction. info on the stadium i got this past weekend was good. didnt see any pics but he said he really hopes the city will be proud of it. they r gonna try to really make the overall look nice. its not confirmed but also looks like the 1700 extra seats they were gonna add later r gonna be included afterall. and there is a possibility that both softball and baseball fields get turf as well as new lights. so while 38 million in some eyes the stadium looks cheap. i think they r gonna really stretch the dollar and get as much as they can. oh! and people wont see it but there is gonna be things included in the new staduim that r unique as in technology for locker rooms that i doubt many stadiums in south texas will have. Some of them were headed to Sam Houston State to look at the construction going on there to see what they may be getting. ( but dont hold me to any of this if it doesnt happen.lol) i personally think they r trying to make sure they keep as much of alice’s old traditional things as they can while adding to generational ones. sorry for the long post. So what is the trade-off? PBK isn't just going to add 1700 seats to the stadium for free and PBK isn't just going to all of a sudden turf up the baseball and softball fields for free either. What is the stadium going to lose in order to make these other things happen? good question i honestly dont know. he didnt make it sound like the new stadium was gonna lose anything. seemed pretty excited about whts to come . he did tell me how there is a strip of land the city supposedly owned. im guessing between sutherlands and the parking lot. the city wanted 800k for it and the PBK looked into it and old records showed the school actually owned it. dont know how true that is but that what he was saying. crazy how the city trying to get a cut. anyway like i said dont hold it against me if some of these things dont happen. its just what i was told. either way the stadium is gonna be nice.

What is the stadium going to lose in order to make these other things happen? Chino, if you are referring to PBK the architectural firm I suspect the powers that be at AISD have made it clear to them to there intention to add seating to the stadium in the future. If so, then PBK should be designing it so that it can easily be added on to. Or, designing it for a base bid for the stadium with an alternate to add the 1700 seats. This would be the better route to design it this way since they are already charging AISD to do the design work and the additional 1700 seat alternate though it will cost a bit more for the design will NOT cost anywhere near as much as if they pay for a new design later to add that seating. Hell, to me this is the only way to go so that the general contractor can solicit base bids for the smaller stadium and an alternate price for adding the 1700 seats right now. You never know, the money budgeted could be enough to do it right now.

Looks like SH State is doing a $44m upgrade to their existing stadium. gobearkats.com/news/2024/8/1/football-bowers-stadium-redesign-plans-submitted-to-bor.aspx

He's home grown and a former Coyote. That being said, he should be more active in his content. People are salivating for football, and there's no pics, no videos, not "how practice going coach?". I hate to sound harsh, but what the heck is he getting paid for? I'd provide content everyday for free and this guy is getting paid for it.

Alice I.S.D. had someone ready to promote that district full-time but the previous Superintendent decided to stab him in the back instead. I wish nothing but the worse for that man.

He can't be everywhere, he can only do what he's asked. Pete loves Coyote football as much as I do and I'm sure if he had the choice he'd cover it 100% of the time but that's just not the reality of the position. Having said that, school districts really do need to invest in these positions more than they do and having only 1 person covering everything for a 5A school district just isn't enough. They should have hired multiple people even if I wasn't one of those people. Every school district should hire full-time creators and stop settling for the average stuff put out by coaches and students with their phones.

Originally when I had my meeting with Superintendent Scarbrough back in 2018 he wanted it to be all about sports with a focus on football. At some point that obviously changed.
