Quick Google Maps is what I see below Carroll - 44 miles to Buc Sinton - 55 miles GP - 55 miles TM - 40 miles Pioneer - 117 miles Vets Memorial - 122 miles

I saw photos of the stadium plan. What was shown was basically the sample that was shown before the bond vote. If that's what it's gonna be then I wonder what the point of the design team committee was. New is new and I'm not gonna complain other than to say I don't like the idea of a stadium that seats 1k less than it currently seats. A Home side of 4k is fine but the visitors side is way too small for a 5A program and not gonna be very inviting to potential playoff matchups for Alice or other programs looking for a neutral site stadium.

So what is the visitor's side capacity? If it is 2k then that is 6k total which is bigger than the stadium both Clemens and Steele share and they are both 6as. Alice is barely a 5a now so I don't see how 6k wouldn't be big enough.

I understand Steele is a better program than Alice but that doesn't make the fanbase better.

Does Alice fill the stadium to capacity for regular season games like they did 20-30 years ago? And if the new home side is the same capacity as the old stadium, it shouldn't be too much of an issue at all. And I'd invite you to come to a Clemens/Steele game just once at Lehnhoff Stadium or even a Steele vs Judson game there and then see if you really have a legit complaint.

With the trend towards streamed games and current forms of leisure time options, I know the new stadiums nowadays are rarely as large as new stadiums from 10-20 years ago. New Braunfels Long Creek’s new $40m stadium is supposed to have 4,000 in the home side and 3,000 in the visitors side with room for future expansion. Curious to see how identical this stadium will be compared to Alice since they were approved at the same time for nearly identical costs. And in Castroville, they also approved in May 2024 for a complete renovation to Medina Valley stadium for like $25m or so and it’s supposed to be 6,500. And their new HS will also have a new stadium that will also seat 6,500. I believe a lot of the new stadium bonds in Houston/DFW are also for capacities of 6,500 - 8,000 as well. It makes me wonder if the era of 10,000 - 12,000+ stadiums is passing us by.

i do know that they were looking at having a stadium that can expand and add more seats if needed down the road. and wanting some unique and there has been a pretty good debate on going to turf or not to. . that was a few weeks ago when i talked to someone close to this committee.

I would think they might have looked at ticket sales data and made a determination of what the seating capacity should be. In general, game attendance is down. I have been to several games in San Marcos Rattler stadium in the playoffs. The visitors side seats 3,000 and I’ve rarely seen it full. And these are playoff games.

Will that be ok for the average Home regular season games? Sure, maybe. But you that's not gonna hold any big time regular season or playoff matchups. I thought the voters voted down a 2nd high school in Castroville???

This is the image someone had sent me of the Home side. Assuming it is gonna have a nice pressbox there is nothing wrong with this. My only issues are the Visitors side being too small and they are getting rid of the uniqueness of Alice's stadium having endzone seating and not replacing it with something else unique. This stadium plan would be perfect... if they also left the current endzone seating as part of it. If it's gonna seat 1k less fans then at some point in the big games, regular season and/or playoff, they are gonna need to add portable bleachers and that just looks tacky. No need for it when you have that perfectly good endzone seating already there in place.

I think Alice Stadium still become a popular playoff venue despite the capacity. As for Medina Valley ISD, they did have a 2nd HS bond that failed in 2022. But they rallied and put it up for vote again in 2024, and it passed (along with a new stadium for them).

Wow that first vote was 2 years ago already? Getting old sucks. Any details on the name of the new school? Colors? Mascot?
