You are exactly right but don't think for a minute that this is exclusive to AISD! This is happening literally everywhere in this 'drop off society' we live in. Drop the kids at school for someone else to worry about, drop them off in front of a TV, PC, ipad, phone, or video game when they get home and drop off some food one parent picks up from somewhere on the way home. It is damn sad to see the tiny amount of time parents spend with their kids today actually 'parenting' them! Not singling out AISD at all. My job takes me to schools all over, and I see it everyday. Teachers are fighting a constant battle. Kids fail, it's the teacher's fault. Kid gets in trouble, it's the teachers fault. Kid doesn't make starting lineup, the coach sucks. But create a parents engagement opportunity, and no parents show up. Alice consistently has one of the best Academic Decathlon teams in the state every year and even won the National Championship a few years ago. Obviously that's a small sample size of the district but to me still represents the kind of good education you can get in Alice if you really want it. Parents are the problem not the teachers or administrators.

Was anything mentioned about the stadium bond at last night's board meeting? Doesn’t it usually take at least a few months to get bonds prepped for district use? I would think you won’t see anything immediately. Especially if Memorial Stadium will be used for one more season.

Some governmental entities might start low cost items or design and reimburse their general fund when the bonds are secured. It think we did that here in Calallen with the bond we passed last May with some security upgrades they wanted completed by the start of the new academic year.

My mom works for the district, I asked her the same question. That information is probably above her pay grade.
