Alice doesn't pack the stadium anymore.
Why?
1. Older fans like my parents can no longer attend due to age but watch via stresm. 2. Lots of fans have moved to the San Antonio/Austin area.

Chino sorry but you're wrong. Alice doesn't fill up the stadium now, and Alice is declining in population . Melissa is having a huge growth spurt, and medium income is much higher than Alice. Yes Alice needs a new stadium, but you can't compare Alice with Melissa. I'm not trying to compare Alice to Melissa as far as future growth. I am talking about the need for a stadium and 10k not being some ridiculous expectation. Like I already pointed out at least when we have big games or playoff games bleachers are added on both sides of the stadium from the endzone to the endzone. Adding that to an already 7k seat stadium and you think 10k is too much to ask for? Sorry I disagree. 10k isn't as big as some of you are making it out to be. That's basically the size of Cabaniss which seats 9.5k. Sorry but 10k is ridiculous. Alice can't put 5k in the stands in most games. Even back in our days with Alice having 2,000+ enrollment, the only time we had to add bleachers was in the playoffs. If Alice wants to get a bond passed, we're going to need reasonable expectations. $25 million doesn't fall from the sky and Alice ISD isn't even breaking even. This all comes from an increased tax to the Alice property owners. I'm not saying they aren't willing to pay, but at least make it presentable.

The point is there is times that bleachers need to be added to an already 7k seat stadium. So how is 10k so far fetched? You're telling me Cabaniss stadium is too big for Alice? I'll tell you one of the reasons there isn't more people at the games is because there's no hand rails for the older or handicapped people. This has been a complaint for years. There's also safety issues and 1 recently happened at the Refugio vs Ben Bolt playoff game. A new stadium wouldn't even be getting discussed if not for all its safety issues that most of you obviously have no idea about. This is what happens when a$$holes like Newell push their personal alternative facts on social media - it works and people believe all the crap that comes out of his mouth. My understanding is taxes will not have to be raised to get this done. But Newell says they will so let's just all believe the guy that is literally always against anything that doesn't benefit him. No yeah I'm sure he's being totally honest. I remember that dude was all for the MUC and then when they didn't build it on his side of the town all of a sudden he was against it. He's a POS.

Many of these super stadiums that have been built the last decade or so that we admire hardly get half full during the balance of the season. Streaming is hurting high school and Smaller college athletics just like it’s about killed movie theaters. I hate it. I miss the days of near capacity crowds everywhere .

Alice packed it's side of a stadium over 2 hours away that seats 8200 people. And for those that don't know Seguin's stadium, the Home side is twice the size of the Visitors side so the Home side itself had to be somewheere between 5k-6k. And this was a game 2 hours away. The idea that 10k seats for a stadium is too much for Alice is nonsense. Alice also packed it's side of the Gustafson Stadium over 2 hours away that seats 10,100. It's also common sense that once Alice has a stadium that has hand rails and is handicapped and old people friendly and with better lighting and parking the games are obviously going to have more people in attendance. Those things are an actual complaint and real problems for why more people don't go to games in Alice. You don't build a stadium based on your potentially lowest attended game you build it to be able to fit those playoff and big game crowds.
And let's be real Alice people, if Newell was pushing for the stadium to be built then all his minions pretending Alice doesn't need a new stadium would absolutely be saying Alice does need a new stadium. These are people that don't think for themselves and just fake-agree with everything that man pushes in Alice.

Then where is the money going to come from? Alice AISD doesn't have $25 million in reserves and neither does the city. You need to ask those who told you that taxes won't be raised where the money is going to come from. I agree Alice needs a new stadium and if I still lived in Alice, I would vote for a reasonable bond. Alice packed it's side of a stadium over 2 hours away that seats 8200 people. Alice filled the stands for sure, but a lot of those fans live in the San Antonio area where it's a 30 minute drive. Add to that more fans show up in the playoffs. Alice doesn't need a 10k capacity stadium period. Yes they need to make it handicap friendly, but even then they aren't going to pack the stadium. If there is a sellout, they can always add bleachers. For the record, I'm not a Newell minion. In fact I've had numerous discussions with him on the importance of having a good school district in order to attract new businesses to the area.

I respect your opinion I just don't think you're looking at the big picture and you are making 10k out to be way more than it is. That's almost 2k less seats than Buc and we do fine bringing crowds to Buc even when it's not a big playoff game.

Also the same way Aliceans travel to San Antonio for playoff games I'm sure all those ex Aliceans living in San Antonio would travel to Alice to watch the playoff games in Alice.

I want the bond to be passed, but it's going to have to be within reason and affordable to the taxpayers.

Why not build and 8-8.5k stadium with 5k on home side with this bond and then add 500-800 seats in both endzones at a later date? Show that they do indeed sell out 5k seats at home regularly and then build the additional seats on! Or, build the 5k seats on the home side from the 15 to the 15 yard lines or 10 to 10 yard lines and make them 30 or 35 rows (whatever is needed to get those 5k seats) and then if Alice shows they are going to sell that out then add on all the to both goal lines which would be relatively easy to do and not cost a HUGE amount to do it.

How does a financially struggling ISD build a $25 million dollar stadium without city residents having to pay more taxes?
