New scoreboard, potential new stadium or renovations - I don't really understand what the plan is if approved. It should be another good season because from what someone had told me the current Junior class went undefeated as freshmen.

if they determine to build a new stadium in the old stadiums spot demo alone will take awhile especially with and old cement stadium. they would have to start soon tonget it built by next years season. highly un likely.
i counted at least 11 kids getting all district honors in some sort that will be coming back next year. with alot of big wins during the season and playoffs lots of kids got playing time. so evem if not deemed a starter they still gain a wealth of experience. i curious what the moto is gonna be this offseason and how they can build on this year. if we make the jump to 5a things will be alot tougher especially in the playoffs. we definitely need to make sure we have the numbers to support our teams.

Alice is 5A size now and will be classified 5A for 24-25 and 25-26. So move this thread to 5A !! You can argue on and on with someone there.

Trust me when I say demo of a stadium will take no time at all. Even if it was solid concrete. Hope Alice gets it done this year but I thought they still had to get it on a bond and approved 1st??

They can’t do them during primary elections in March because those are operated by the political parties. It takes several months to actually get the bonds sold and funded after they passed. 2025 will be the earliest you all will see significant upgrades or new .

It will draw a larger voting number vs the May ballot which depending on the mood of the taxpayers can sink or swim a bond issue. Ours at Calallen last spring passed the stuff that was non stadium items , but the improvements to the football, softball and baseball stadiums sunk by 14 fricken votes. It didn't help that a few weeks earlier, the property appraisals were mailed out and some of us had 40 to 50% increase in our property values and it shows an estimated tax bill on there. My final bill this year was no where close to that because the state just passed a significant property tax reduction thanks to $100 k increase in the Homestead exemption. Even so, the May voters who hate taxes and things for athletics with or without tax increases are more likely to vote vs those who don't care either way vs November voters. We have some who want to put that stuff back on a ballot for May 2024 and I just assume they hold back and just do it in November because we are going to have a potential slate of candidates running on the school board who are going to push it too and get rid of two who are sticks in the mud . More about that later. Another thing with November is if Alice has another good season, that will excite the community to move on it too.

Was anyone at the committee meeting yesterday where the new stadium situation was brought up? Hearing they could build something from $25-$45 million without taxes being raised. Hearing they are undecided about building on the same spot because the school district owns land somewhere else that it could be built. I'm not sure where exactly that is.
Alice I hope would see this as an opportunity for something bigger than just for Alice. A nice big stadium would bring in lots of local playoff games as well as Valley vs San Antonio stuff... and most importantly would give me an opportunity to brag about Alice's new stadium lol. Let's build something nicer than Buc and have the best stadium in South Texas. However they build it PLEASE find a way to keep the endzone seating as part of it. Even if it's just one endzone and made into a horseshoe. Alice's stadium is unique in South Texas with it's endzone seating and I would hope they would bring some kind of uniqueness with the new stadium also if it happens. Don't build something plain Jane like what Seguin had or Cabaniss. As nice as Seguin's stadium was it was plain and Cabaniss is just a waste of an opportunity that CCISD had.

Good luck on getting tax payers to approve just a stadium proposal. If Prosper iSD couldn’t pass their stadium bond, I have a hard time believing Alice could. They would have to add more propositions to include facility upgrades for security, maybe a Fine Arts Center or others to entice voters to pass the bond.

Appreciate the input but Prosper has nothing to do with Alice. And I'm pretty sure there other things included not just the stadium.

Just putting it out there that voters don’t like paying for new athletic facilities. Good luck like I said.
