No surprise with this ballgame. PSJA North proved their state quest worthy performance with the East Titans. It will be interesting to see how they respond to adversity during a game if they are down multiple scores. Last season in the R4 Championship game, I believe CC Vets went up by 2 scores. They did not fold. They kept fighting and playing hard, and closed the gap. To me, they're a great football team. Great skill on the field, along with excellent effort and heart.

I know Miller is fast and explosive, but I am having a very hard time seeing the Miller defense getting stops on North. I think it will be a scoring fest with these two if they both take care of business in their games this week. I like Miller a lot but the honest truth is that if Victoria E put up 42 on them and a not so good CCVM offense put up 40, and VW put up 45, how are they going to keep North from 50+ points?

I just don't see Miller getting up on North by multiple scores simply because I don't think Miller can stop North's pound town offense. I truly hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am. I've had North winning the region since very early on and nothing I've seen has my mind changed on that. I don't see them down by more than a score until the semi-finals. See, I'm sold on North being a good team. I'm just not sold on them being a legit top 10 team and I won't be until they play in the semi-finals and either win it, or stay within striking distance until very late in the game.

Miller may need to line up in punt block formation to try to stop their running game. And Evans just might do it and dare the Raiders to pass! Miller is going to score on North. But those RGV boys are going to bring the hits all along the way. Miller will be hit harder in that game (should it happen) than they have been all season. My question is… how does the Miller offense respond to North’s physicality on defense?

Geez, did you even play organized football or listen to someone on TV giving a defensive take on how to stop a rushing attack? …cause your ignorance is astounding!
It’s called putting 8+ in the box to overload an area to try and stop a strong rushing attack! Force the other team to throw the ball to beat you!!

The “punt block formation” was a joke. Basically I’m saying Miller needs to not cover any receivers at all to stop their running game.

Force the other team to throw the ball to beat you!!5/2 base or 4/3 base with a good tackling safety or another LBr pulled into the box. Either way it will leave corners in man to man single coverage and they better be damn good in cover and better have their head on a swivel to be ready to catch and tackle the RB when they do get past the linebackers!

I understand football. I'm saying... IF PSJAN is running wild, Miller might as well decide to let the receivers run free and have the corners crash the edges too. No coverage whatsoever. Everyone attacks the run. Chances are it's going to be a run on any given play anyway. Up by a td? Need to stop a drive? F it. Piss on pass. If they pass and score... so be it. It's only tied now.

Oh my goodness I spit out my tea laughing at the punt block defense comment...
The POP defense is NOT punt block defense... it is NOT 11 in the box either... 6 to 8 in the box will work. 1 more than the line can block.
Clem I agree with you on the shootout score. Similar to the old times of the no defense Big 12 days.... it'll be like LH v Hutto all over again.. 6 man type scoring... No disrespect to the North defense, but those Miller kids are just that fast... 1 or 2 plays and they are 88 and out the gate...

East actually had a bunch of stops in the back field against North, but those dudes are just so thick and strong they were able to break free for decent gains. Frustrating!!

That's my wild guess. Miller will have trouble holding North to any punts whatsoever. The final score comes down to a matter of timing. North only put up 42 against Vic East... without punting. So, in theory, it can still be a one score game. That said, Miller has a tough opponent this week. Vic West has a shot. Miller better not look ahead.

I'm extremely intrigued to see how Miller's offense does against North's defense, if that game should happen. Now I know East is NO WHERE NEAR as talented as Miller, but North made East offense look bad. Especially since East had several good punt and kick-off returns into North's territory.

It's coming though.
