I didn't see a thread for this district and I know we have at least a couple of Champion posters in here so I figured I'd start this thread here in mid season. I re-watched the SV/Wagner game and to be honest Wagner pretty much handed that game over. SV did what they always seem to do which is to force mistakes and then take advantage of the albeit a lot of Wagner's mistakes in this game were not forced, but them putting the ball on the ground. Champion impressed me last week showing great coaching, some really good players, and a bunch of kids that don't quit. After 1 district game here is the standings. Team | District | Overall | Beat | Lost | Boerne Champion | 1-0 | 4-0 | NB Canyon |
| Hays Consolidated | 1-0 | 3-1 | Mac Arthur |
| Smithson Valley | 1-0 | 3-1 | NB Canyon |
| Seguin | 1-0 | 1-3 | Lehman |
| NB Canyon | 0-1 | 2-2 |
| Champion | Wagner | 0-1 | 2-2 |
| Smithson Valley | Lehman | 0-1 | 1-3 |
| Seguin | MacArthur | 0-1 | 1-3 |
| Hays Consolidated |
We will find out a lot more this week when Champion travels to Hays, Mac goes to Seguin, Lehman goes to Wagner, & SV goes to NBC. My picks this week are: Champion over Hays by 14 Seguin over Mac by 10 Wagner over Lehman by 28 SV over NBC by 17

SV +21-+24 over NBC. The top 3 in this district are going to be dang salty come playoffs! I'm not sure who #4 will be but I put SV, Hayes, and Champion or SV, Champion, and Hayes. I feel like Wagner has the edge over NBC for #4, but it will be the winner of that game as #4. Too bad this isn't a district in Region 4!!! They'd be a great matchup for the semis with region 3, and the only legit contenders to make the finals.

I think you are both right. I could see BCS winning by 14, but also can see a close game given Hays offense. At this point, I would expect 1 SV 2 Wagner 3 BCS 4 Seguin or NBC. I haven't watched any Seguin film yet, just see the scores. Did they play good offenses or is their D that bad. Thier O seems good obviously.
I also agree on Wagner vs. SV. Wagner shot themselves in the foot, spotting SV 14pts. BCS would surely need several Wagner mistakes to pull out a win. SV O isn't really that impressive.....but don't think that matters as they are solid everywhere.

SV O isn't really that impressive.....but don't think that matters as they are solid everywhere. I've only seen bits and pieces of Seguin so far and I think you are correct about them. Pretty dang good offense but not a lot of defense. I don't see BC having much trouble with them honestly unless they turn it over a bunch. And man I just looked at the stats at MYSA on the SV/Wagner game and though SV won the game by 17, Wagner outgained SV 233 to 172 in total yards and it also says Wagner had 11 first downs to 4 for SB. SV was only 3 of 10 for 69 yards passing and completed almost as many balls to SV as they did their own receivers as they had 2 interceptions on SV. The difference is that SV turned the TOs they got into points like they always do and Wagner did not. IF BC can play really good Defense against SV and not turn it over they may give them a good ball game. Wagner/BC will be a good game to if BC can keep Wagner in front of them when they are on defense.

2nd week of District this past week: Champion 40 Hays Consolidated 21 Smithson Valley 42 NB Canyon 21 Seguin 57 MacArthur 0 Wagner 42 Lehman 14 The district has an off week this week and resumes the following week with these games: Seguin @ Champion SV @ Lehman Hays Cons @ NBC Wagner @ SA Mac The Seguin/Champion and Hays/NBC games are big ones. I think the loser of the Hays/NBC game is likely on the outside looking in and the winner of the Seguin/Champion game will all but have a PO spot locked down. I know we have some Boerne Champion fans on here. Are they good or have they had an easy schedule? Possible 2nd or 3rd round playoff run or past Thanksgiving?

Solid team from what I've gotten to watch of them so far this year. Very good coaching with some kids that get after it. I think it will all depend where the finish in district as to whether or not they can go 2 or 3 rounds deep. District 11 top 2 seeds will be hell to deal with out of the gate.

Agree with Clems. We are much improved and still improving but not sure we have enough to hang with SV or Wagner or Dist 11. We also have to get past Seguin and the 200+/game RB.

SV plays the best two other district teams (IMO) right out of the gate. People keep saying that Wagner shot themselves in the foot but if you watch the game closely you'll see that SV forced the mistakes Wagner made. I don't think SV ever felt threatened in that game.
The SV versus Canyon game was much closer than the final score and here is my opinion why...... Wagner. Because SV played Wagner the week before where the SV corners and safeties just sold out 100% to the run. Against Canyon, the Canyon coaches did a great job in taking advantage of the over aggressiveness of the SV secondary and were able to keep it close till the half. Then the SV coaches, some of the best in the business, made adjustments and pulled away.
Canyon has started out slowly 0-2 in district but they'll be there at the end. SV and Wagner are locks IMO. Boerne is 5-0 so that can not be discounted. IMO opinion the only 2 schools with no shot at the playoffs are Lehman and MacArthur

NBC is a solid team for sure and gave SV a lot more problem than I thought they could. That said, I was very impressed with the way Champion came back on NBC and shut them down completely in teh 2nd half after the Coogs opening drive. I do argue though that several of Wagner's turnovers were self inflicted fumbles and not really caused by SV hits as well as the horrible snap on the punt that gave SV 7 points to start the game. Wagner held SV to well under 200 total yards in that game and yet the Rangers generated 24 points from it because of the turnovers. SV is going to win the district barring a big time upset by BC but I think spots 2-4 are up for grabs and I can tell you this, I wouldn't want to be 3 or 4 and have to face off with Dist 12's #1 & #2. Hell, even their #3 team is going to be tough as nails

A couple of big games this week. The winner of the Seguin/Champion game will have all but locked up a PO spot and the loser of the NBC/Hays Cons game will likely be on the outside looking in for a spot. Team | District | Overall | Beat | Lost | Left to Play | This Week | Boerne Champion | 2-0 | 5-0 | NB Canyon, Hays Consolidated |
| Seg, Wag, SV, Lehman, Mac | Seguin | Smithson Valley
| 2-0
| 4-1
| Wagner, NB Canyon
|
| Lehman, Mac, BC, Hays, Seg | @ Lehman | Seguin
| 2-0
| 2-3
| Lehman, MacArthur
|
| BC, Hays, NBC, Wag, SV | @ Champion | Hays Consolidated
| 1-1
| 3-2
| Mac Arthur
| Champion
| NBC, Seg, Wag, SV, Lehman | @ NB Canyon | Wagner
| 1-1
| 3-2
| Lehman
| Smithson Valley
| Mac, BC, Hays, Seg, NBC | @ SA Mac | NB Canyon | 0-2 | 2-3 |
| Champion, Smithson Valley | Hays, Lehman, Seg, Mac, Wag | Hays Consolidated | Lehman | 0-2 | 1-4 |
| Seguin, Wagner | SV, NBC, Mac, BC, Hays | Smithson Valley | MacArthur | 0-2 | 1-4 |
| Hays Consolidated, Seguin | Wag, SV, Lehman, NBC, BC | Wagner |
I'll take Champion in a pretty close one over Seguin 49 - 42 SV by as much as they want over Lehman NBC by 21 over Hays Cons Wagner by a BUNCH over SA Mac

Hope you are right on BC. DCTF has BC favored by 3. Cal Preps has BC by 10 (44-34). Hard to get a great read on Seguin via film. NB beat them pretty good. They put up a lot of yards on NB, but still lost by 23. All the other teams they played have suspect defenses IMO, including AH. Their RB is really good, 200+ per game (240 vs. NB). Thus...is their offense that good, or those defenses bad?

Agree with you on AH's D being suspect but it is just very hard to tell with them since Seguin was their one and only non-district game and that district they are in will certainly not tell anyone anything on where AH is the rest of the regular season. No doubt though that Seguin's offense is pretty legit and them putting up 22 on the Unicorns probably says something because NB is typically a pretty sound defensive team. I know NB was struggling a bit early in the year and finally seem to have gotten it going the last couple weeks playing a solid 6a Weiss team very close and beating Brenham by 17 just two weeks ago. I just don't see Seguin hanging with BC for 4 quarters if the Chargers play clean and don't turn it over.

Unicorns raced to a 35-6 halftime lead and 42-6 entering the 4th quarter before coasting late in the game. That said, that speaks more to Canyon since they did beat New Braunfels. I would be surprised if Seguin won against Champion.
