When 5 players have the running back stopped shouldn’t the whistle blow. 5 guys should be able to take the ball away from one guy if you give them time.

He made the playoffs all 5 years he was there. I remember a game I as at and it was about the 3rd game of the season and GP may have been playing Victoria West and they were big and GP had 165 lb defense lineman and they were giving their best but getting whipped in the line. i heard the guy in front of me comment, "It is the coaching". He meant Coach Matt Anastacio. I agree with his comment but disagree on what coach. Coach Anastacio was stuck with the same below average coach's from the previous administration. Most of them are finally gone now. You ruin your stories with your constant exaggerations of G-P players being 100 lbs. Stop man. He couldn't develop that's why the next 5 years suffered. Lmao yes, GP is smaller now across the board than when Anastacio was there. Anastacio had talent. Devin Bisby comes to mind. Anastacio ran him into the ground and ruined his chances of getting a scholarship at a better college program. Then Anastacio goes to Odessa and does nothing there. He's at 3A Llano as a co-defevenive coordinator. Austin Westlake doesn’t miss him. The proof is in the pudding. |

This is the first time in my lifetime that I can say I'm not looking forward to a Coyote football season nor do I have expectations. The mess of the 2022 season took it all out of me. I wish this dude would have already gotten one of the many jobs he applies for so him and his brother could be gone.

You don’t know squat about what went on at GP. Coach Anastacio was asked to come to Odessa by HC Danny Servance whom he coached with at Permian. Coach Anastacio left Permian with Coach Darren Allman to Westlake. They came close to state titles something Alice has never done. Coach Anastacio coached in the Army Allstar game that is about to have a game I think next week. Coach Anastacio played 4 years at Hardin Simmons and was 8th in most tackles in history. He played in Playoff games at Hardin Simmons. He has a degree in Math and computer science. He was asked to come to Llano to coach. |

Coach Matt Anastacio smelled a rat. Coach Rick Rhoades daughter is a coach at Giddings. I had a spy at Giddings. There is a good ol boy network in coaching. Threre was things in the mill and word from a member of the GP school board leaked out the Coach Rick Rhoades deal in advance. Did you see who else applied for the job. I did not either. Another thing about Coach Anastacio leaving because of lack of talent. Did you check the talent the Odessa Bronchos had. They had not won more than 2 games a year for the previous ten years. The powers that be understood the Bronchos did get talent and they tolerated a losing team. The talent went to Permian. When Coach Anastacio went to Odessa he added talent with his son who got a scolly to Hardin Simmons. The younger son has some job on the Baylor staff. I attended dinners with a teacher and big supporter of Coach Jay Seibert. Because I live in Sinton she did not know I was a GP fan. It was interesting.
