this is my opinion. but alice finally finished the job of getting a district title. for the past at least 5 years we have seen alice football teams from 7th all the way to jv. win first place or or only lose a game or two. we always had high expectations with groups getting to varsity to fall through the cracks and not produce like they should of. its good to see them push through and finish the job. what was the difference? “coaching”! and im not trying to say past coaches werent good. they started the building block of success. but something about this coaching staff, the accountability that these coaches hold these boys to is different. and i really think they made believers in them and got their trust and they see the results so now they r running with it playing with confidence! congratulations to the team and coaches. Alice absolutely got a good coach, hope they don’t run him off! Things are def looking up in Alice, no doubt.

Alice vs Rockport-Fulton Friday in Corpus. Either at Buc or Cabaniss. I'm not sure how you know the date and city but not the stadium. Doesn't make sense to me but that's what I've heard so far.

Friday is suppose to be a rainy day. Won't matter. Unlike last season we now have a coach that's smart enough not to throw the ball 30x into 40mph winds and rain while your RB is averaging 8 yards a carry on only 11 carries.

Robbie Chavez mostly covers the San Antonio area programs that get no love from the local media but he also throws in South Texas stuff from time to time. He is legit and gets legit sponsors up there in San Antonio. Even at last night's game people were asking for selfies and autographs. Here is Alice's RB as his Player of the Game. Here's the irony... towards the end of the game he asked me to help with who I thought was the player of the game... I said #12. But you have clowns in here running and telling his dad that I don't like him and bash him in here all because I had the nerve to brag about one of the backup RBs attributes...

The DCTF projections a week ago had Lampasas/Fredericksburg. It's Lampasas vs Uvalde Yeah but stuff changed when Burnet upset Davenport and has them all in a 3 way tie. Burnet get's the #1 seed not Davenport. Alice would play the winner of Davenport/Fredericksburg

I had a Waterboy’s Mama “Brain Pain” moment that you brought up last year’s debacle

Coaching is certainly some of it but not necessarily all of it. Sometimes kids just don't grow as much as others, get as fast as others, etc etc etc. Hell, I watched my little brother's 7th and 8th grade teams go 0-16 and 1-9 as freshman. They sucked bad. But they were pretty damn good as seniors going 3 rounds deep and losing to a very, very good Calallen team in 1991. They got better and started beating teams that beat the hell out of them because a bunch of them simply grew a lot more and got a lot faster. Hell, there have been multiple 'little league' football teams in the RGV win state championships the past decade or more. How many of those kids have smelled even a R4 title? There is just too many variables to figure in when you are talking about young teenage boys and how they develop. All that said, I really like what I'm seeing in Alice, TX with this new coaching staff. That defense gets after it and I can only see it and the offense improving from this point foward
