I don't get this at all
If he had a tear, why in the hell was he playing at all instead of getting it repaired and getting on to rehab?
This doesn't make a damn bit of sense to me if this kid is going to play on Saturdays

There's a Cutter Stewart article on Friday Night Fever on Facebook. The 2 main things I took from it are he absolutely did have a torn ACL this season and he even mentions it. That dude's dad spent all season lying to me that it was just a bruise. I'm not so offended that he kept lying to me though because I'm not stupid enough to have believed it as much as someone is stupid enough to try and push that lie while the player's other family members were telling everyone it was indeed a torn ACL. The second thing I took out of the interview is that I dislike Atwood even more now that the injury is all confirmed. You lost 2 QBs over this chit. For what? You're telling me a 50% completion percentage passer who can't run and is stationary in 1 spot because of the torn ACL was better than what Alice had before? Atwood put his loyalty to this family over his loyalty to the program and for that I have lost the even just 1% of respect I still had for him. I saw this last night and was wondering how you all were going to react to it. You guys have every right to be mad. He had no business playing after he was injured himself, especially if wants to play at the next level. That is 100% on his parents and the coach. Maybe more so with the parents because it's like the select league non sense in baseball and arms and some parents not seeing the issue there because they see $$$. And as a result the coach put the program in a hard spot for next season.

It seems like these people were more concerned with adding to his high school career stats than they were his college career. I don't get it at all.

“Whoa Nellie” Keith Jackson The Doctor decides if you need surgery and not the coach. You may not need surgery for a AC L tear. I had one last tear and I did put a stretch knee brace on it and the doctor checked it out and it repaired itself. I went about life as usual and worked in the yard and climbed steps at ball game. Don’t blame the coach and find out the details. ‘If you Google and read up on it, it sounds serious. It may be diagnosed as a ACL tear but it may be. A minor tear. I’m not sure the difference but mine had very little pain and just kind of clicked when bending the knee. The doctor checked me out and did not recommend surgery. You see players playing with a knee brace sometimes.

You see players playing with a knee brace sometimes. He ran for 1k last year. He could run. He couldn't this season and Alice's offense was built around dual threat QBs. A QB on 1 leg is not better than the 2 QBs Alice had last year that were both coming back. If you didn't watch all 11 games you just won't know what our complaints are. None of what any of us are whining about is the players fault either. Adults and coaches should know better.

Did you play 11 games of football after you tore yours? IDK. Maybe the doctor said he wouldn't suffer further damage with a knee brace?

Under Atwood will Alice ever have a running game vs legit opponents? Has it ever even been pointed out how our running game is non-existent vs the good programs? We ran for absolutely nothing this season vs Vets and Calallen and it's like that every season vs the elites of the elite around here. They’d have to get a strong running backs coach to do that & we haven’t had a solid run game in a long time

“Whoa Nellie #2” Keith Jackson. The Alice School board has rules. The Alice ISD has rules. The Coach has rules. The parents have a choice, The player has a choice. I don’t know the details and did the Doctor give a green light.
Now back to Alice running game. You have good blocking to have a running game. You have to have a good coach to teach blocking. I am not seeing good blocking with most teams. The spread formation has devastated blocking and the running game. GP has Andy Smith coaching the O line and he played defense in HS and college. There is a shortage of Q back coaches. How many coaches in the Coastal Bend have shown they are above average coaches? Coach Jason Herring at Refugio is the only one I have seen and he is the most hated coach in the Coastal Bend and Coach Matt Anastacio was second place until he left.

If Cutter Stewart had surgery, he would have missed his Sr. Season. Somebody made a choice. How would that affect his recruiting chances? Did playing cause further damage? Is Cutter Stewart prone to injury? I don’t know the answer and neither does the posters on here.
If I am the superintendent I would do what I have to do to avoid a lawsuit. I would want to know how he got injured. I would want to know every detail and have parents sign a release if he played. I just hope Cutter Stewart does not have a bad knee the rest of his life.

They kept a QB that couldn't move from being injured all season. I believe he was only sacked 3 times (once by Kingsville and twice by Calallen). That says a lot about the O-line that they kept a QB that absolutely never moved from being touched more than 3 times in 11 games.

I would think ACL (Tommy John in baseball) is right below a broken leg bone, and head/neck injuries in the severity level of injuries that most coaches, trainers, and physicians would say is a no go for most kids once diagnosed. Now if a kid and his parents keep an injury on the hush and play through it, then there is no liability on the coaches part. Even today in our somewhat softer culture, you have kids that play through and try to and make it work only to find out later he had a worse injury than first reported. Calallen had a QB a few years back that most thought was playing with a bruised ankle and it ended up being a fracture. That was for one game however, not an entire season. It was obvious in the one game I saw in person and what I saw on video of others that the offense was set up for him not to have to to roll out and prevent him from having to scramble. When he did attempt to run, it was a design play and rare at that. If he had been put into situations where he had to scramble and make a cut or pivot, then that knee would have snapped and it would’ve been over. High dollar preventive brace or none. So that’s why as Chino and the others noted they were effectively screwed against PLC because the weather that night required a different game plan and they had none.
