It's between Todd Dodge and Scott Surrat. JK.π€·ββοΈ I think I know who can be the perfect answer.... He's read all the right books, eats peanut butter, serves peanut butter, and was a Wildcat from across the bay leader.... He coaches defense and has a huge fan on here... according to that fan, he's the best coach on earth except for GW.... Lmao π
think we'll pass.

I will say, this has been highly entertaining. I predict, whoever is hired, will have his detractors. Hopefully he has thick skin. He will have my full support and I hope he has yours too. I don't know who applied for the job or who should get the job, and I don't listen to rumors. I'll just sit back and wait until Matt Stepp tells me who will be leading those Alice Coyotes. That being said, I'd like to throw my hat into the OC position. I have 0 experience. I felt one of the most underutilized players was #3. He's 6'2 WR runs the anchor in the relay team who made it to state last year. As a senior, he should be getting more chances to show his talent. I'd put him in the backfield and use him like a Deebo Samuel type player. Just give me the job now, coach.

LOL Warcat82, I am busy watching the Georgia vs TCU game again and again. so I can discuss it with Coach Sonny Dykes. His team had a attitude problem. His wife Katherine Leigh Golding is the grand daughter of former WF Coyote Coach Joe Golding. Coach Joe Golding was my American History teacher in HS. Warcat you mention GW and I assume you mean Coach Gordon Wood. Coach Gordon Wood became friends with Coach Spike Dykes years after their first encounter when Coach Spike Dykes was back up center at Balinger HS. Balinger was playing Stamford and the Balinger center was injured. The Coach put Spike Dykes in and he had a long day against LB Kenneth Lowe of Stamford. Coach Spike Dykes became the Coach at Texas Tech. He had a DC by the name of Coach Bill Parcells. Coach Bill Parcells told the story to Dallas Morning news about this old grey hair guy coming to his spring practice for at least 15 days. He found out it was Coach Gordon Wood. Coach Gordon Wood drove round trip every day from Brownwood to Lubbock. They became friends and when Coach Gordon Wood retired, he watched state playoff games from Coach Bill Parcells box seat at Jerrys world. Coach Wood watched one of his former assistants play against another of his former assistants coaching on the other team. One of those was Coach Sam Harrell. The Horned Frogs were a disaster in the Georgia game. Their running back down the left sideline with the ball in the wrong hand resulting in a fumble to their Heisman runner up QB throwing three interceptions.

I give you credit, for an older gentleman you do get around well and I hope when I get that age I can do the same. I got to meet Spike Dykes at the Angelo coaching clinic in the early 2000's. Great guy! I also got toi meet Wade and Bum Philips at the same clinic. Bum was by far the most down to earth country boy coach I've ever had the privilege of meeting. When he found out I was in Beeville at that time, he mentioned he had breakfast quite often there since he lived in Goliad. So I would go say hi to him, he even talked to my now adult daughters when they were just toddlers. Anyway, I digress, back to Alice. Those poor kids need a coach. It's unfortunate that the school board is taking this long.

He was open so many times in every single game and was either overthrown or not looked at. I'm sure he'll be the go-to Receiver in 2023. He will have a big year. I don't think anyone will complain about the new coach unless it's an inside hire. Almost every outside name that has been mentioned seems like a legit candidate that at the very least will excite the program and fanbase. I hate to keep going at coaches already on staff I honestly think some of them will be legit HC's some day. My only argument is not now not when the program has had 3 losing seasons in the last 5 years. Because of that the program needs a jolt of energy from an outside hire.

Those of us that played receiver know that if the QB has beef with a receiver he will not make throws on purpose or will hang them out to die. Just to make that receiver look bad..

The QB was just inaccurate and seemed to decide who he was going to throw the ball to before the ball was even snapped. The Sinton fan in here called it before the season even started. Even ccwarcat pointed out all the stats showing inaccuracies we just ignored it to build up our player.

It's unfortunate that the school board is taking this long. Warcat82 I ran into Coach Bum Philips at the Railroad station in Odem. His brother was building houses in Odem. We remissed about when his Sandies played the Coyotes. He said "Yeah yall best the snot out of us". He was in WWII in the army. He and another soldier crawled across enemy lines in the dark of night and removed Dog Tags from dead American soldiers to send back to family. That took guts. He and another Oiler player preached sermons at the prisons. It appears that Alice is taking time because they are not satisfied with the applicants. The Coaches have a "Good ol boy network" and they are aware of what has been going on in Alice.

All of his routes were curls. Which I felt took away from his skill set. Put him in motion, get him out in space and let him use his speed. I know track speed is different than football speed but fast is fast.

He couldn't do anything of what you just said he should have. Dude had no business playing at all in my opinion. Not on a torn ACL. That's an insult to the homegrown Alice QBs to say this dude on a torn ACL was better than the other QBs.
