That, and the scheme had him throw to a spot rather than in stride. All of his routes were curls. Which I felt took away from his skill set. Put him in motion, get him out in space and let him use his speed. I know track speed is different than football speed but fast is fast. He had a torn ACL. He couldn't do anything of what you just said he should have. Dude had no business playing at all in my opinion. Not on a torn ACL. That's an insult to the homegrown Alice QBs to say this dude on a torn ACL was better than the other QBs. Agree but I was talking about #3. I understand that I was not very clear to what I was trying to say.

I think I know who can be the perfect answer.... He's read all the right books, eats peanut butter, serves peanut butter, and was a Wildcat from across the bay leader.... He coaches defense and has a huge fan on here... according to that fan, he's the best coach on earth except for GW.... Anastacio to Alice? Lol! Don’t laugh. You never know…

Someone mentioned that details of the board meetings are kept close to the vest, but truth is they tell their buddies and those buddies talk, so people around town know things. It’s no secret that the board has a lot to do with the decision making, it doesn’t fall solely upon Scarborough. I can tell you that interviews will be conducted this week. DelPercio also mentioned that interviews will be conducted this week. I don’t understand how we had so many applicants and the pool has already been narrowed down to what I hear is not that great, but not in those words. I had breakfast with a couple of board members, and I do know that Castellano is heavily favored. I tried not to ask too many questions, but several times it was mentioned that “it only makes sense” or he’s the “practical” choice, they were tight lipped on why but I know Castellano, and while he’s changed things around at Taft, I see him as being another Alvarado type of coach if he were named HC here for Alice. Nick Alvarado the baseball head coach is who I’m talking about. Once 2 and sometimes 3 of those board members fool Castellano into thinking they’re here for him, we’ll be back to square one and the micromanaging will continue. The new guy will be named before spring break.

I will say, this has been highly entertaining. I predict, whoever is hired, will have his detractors. Hopefully he has thick skin. He will have my full support and I hope he has yours too. I don't know who applied for the job or who should get the job, and I don't listen to rumors. I'll just sit back and wait until Matt Stepp tells me who will be leading those Alice Coyotes. That being said, I'd like to throw my hat into the OC position. I have 0 experience. I felt one of the most underutilized players was #3. He's 6'2 WR runs the anchor in the relay team who made it to state last year. As a senior, he should be getting more chances to show his talent. I'd put him in the backfield and use him like a Deebo Samuel type player. Just give me the job now, coach. Funny that you mention #3, he was brought up in conversation today and it was brought up how he wasn’t used enough. I know him and his family well, close friends. He knows Coyote tradition well as his father played on the ‘93 team as a lineman, he’s a good buddy of mine, was a senior I was a junior. Good kid, disciplined and humble at that and good family. He’s an all around athlete and coach favorite. I know he leads in the football team’s power rankings and the baseball team’s power rankings and as far as track he’s a stud. And like someone said, he anchors all the relays. Lots of talk about making it to state this season with the relays. His summers are spent at college camps, combines and showcases for football, track and baseball. He’s a top student in the classroom too. He will have a stacked camp schedule. He’ll be playing at the next level and possibly multiple sports. I know that he’s piqued the interest of colleges already. He was moved up to varsity his freshman year which was the Covid season. Following season, Ryan Salas was the go to man and this past season the Vasquez kid was the target. There’s already talk that this next season will be his break out year and I dont doubt it.

He's the only starting Receiver coming back if I'm not mistaken. He was open so many times in every single game and was either overthrown or not looked at. I'm sure he'll be the go-to Receiver in 2023. He will have a big year. I don't think anyone will complain about the new coach unless it's an inside hire. Almost every outside name that has been mentioned seems like a legit candidate that at the very least will excite the program and fanbase. I hate to keep going at coaches already on staff I honestly think some of them will be legit HC's some day. My only argument is not now not when the program has had 3 losing seasons in the last 5 years. Because of that the program needs a jolt of energy from an outside hire. I wonder if him and the QB had personal issues. Or the QB had them with him and he didn't realize it... Those of us that played receiver know that if the QB has beef with a receiver he will not make throws on purpose or will hang them out to die. Just to make that receiver look bad.. They’re good friends and I can assure you there was no beef between them. The Vasquez kid was the go-to guy is all.
