Dang Dustin Vaughn is an NFL QB and a just a physically big dude. I say why not? Hire the man. Doesn’t anyone else that’s applied have his credentials in football? No.

No. Just because they play in the NFL doesn't mean they can coach... Ryan Leaf played in the NFL, you think he's a quality applicant? Eric Soza nor his dad ever played in the NFL so they are not good coaches? Heck Paul Talbert played in the NFL for the Houston Oilers, and Phil Danaher didn't, so Talbert was a better coach? Come on man...Alice needs a proven program builder, not a young guy with no head coaching experience, much less coaching experience at all... Is Dustin a good guy, yes, but if he wants to start coaching, start as an assistant and don't jump straight into the fire... other coaches that have established themselves need to be the focus.

The narrative on this page is painting a picture of Atwood in a negative light. He didn't like it in Alice, he wanted out from the get go, he was frustrated with administration, parents were frustrated with him...all leading up to his eventual departure. However, many players, players parents, school personnel, including my mother, who works in the distrct, are genuinely sad to see him go. And Atwood is torn up about leaving. A players mother said the players were visibly upset when he told the players he was leaving. I'm not saying there's wasn't any type of turmoil in the athletic department, but you can't argue with the kids who played for the guy. They all loved him. All you can do now is wish the man well and hope this is the right move for him and his family. We can hope the new coach, who ever that may be, to continue and improve what Kyle Atwood started. Spare me. First of all I even did an episode after the Calhoun loss where I made sure to mention my criticism was nothing personal and how Atwood was always nice to me and seemed like a really nice man. That's irrelevant to the constant underachieving. The reality is he was trying to leave for a long time and even if that was the districts fault for micromanaging or whatever excuse anyone wants to use then oh well leave and let someone who wants to be in Alice be in Alice. And by the way I also mention that I get him wanting to leave to be closer to home or even just to better his situation. But once again, irrelevant to what any of our criticisms have been. I believe you, I'm sure the good byes were hard for everyone... but once again, irrelevant to anything. You can go to a program that is a permanent cellar dwellar and even that programs kids and employees are going to act sad about losing a coach that they've been around for years. Doesn't mean they're the right man for the job just because emotions happened at their good byes.

I hear you. But why not? I say run the experiment and see what happens. Lol! In that district, Alice is guaranteed 7 wins or so just by showing up to the game. It’s not like any human being can’t come off the couch and take Alice to the playoffs in that district.

This way of thinking is exactly what's going to lead to more disappointment and get us an internal hire that isn't the best choice just because people will let emotions and friendships get in the way. F emotions. Emotions are for when we watch Boobie Miles cry in Friday Night Lights not for making professional decisions.

I only said Dustin Vaughn cause someone threw out a clue that it was an ex Calallen Qb and a former Dallas cowboys quarterback …. Not sure who else fits that bill … unless they were two separate clues or maybe I just misunderstood in general

Can you confirm whether he is or isn’t interested in coaching Alice?

That includes me, I am happy Calhoun won. But I'd be lying if I said I expected it.
