Someone asked about Kory Atwood, he’s staying until the end of track season then leaving. I’m hearing he promised his track guys he’d stay till the end, he knows the season is gonna be a successful one and I like that for those athletes. They deserve it and from what I know of, they have a good relationship with him. When I saw the applicants, it was 42. One week later it was up. Not sure what happened that it’s 39? Bradley Chavez would be a good fit for Alice, just saying.👀 I can personally say that from being around Chavez when he was at Miller that he's an intense dude that won't put up with bullchit. That dude made me wish i could play again lol. Edcouch f'ed up letting him go early like they did before giving him a chance to fix things.

Sat in the press box for a while during the Moody scrimmage, and on Monday, sat with some buddies from Ray for a while before making my way to the other side and sat with a former coworker. oh ok moody game i stood on the visitors side close to the dug out. ray i was sitting in the beachers closest to the locker room ..where is chavez at now. I think he's the offensive coordinator at the same place Omasha Brantley is at, Clear Creek. I have no idea if Omasha ended up applying or not. I had heard he did but then Matt Stepp came in here saying he didnt so maybe I was wrong.

Cochino your guy is in the mix. If I tell y’all the local powerhouse it won’t take long to figure out. I will say this he was a QB. There is also a triple option coach that applied. Only local teams I'd consider powerhouses are Calallen, Vets, Miller, Refugio and Flour Bluff. I think one of the McHugh twins was a QB but I don't remember which one and the Miller McHugh just accepted an OC job at Crowley so it can't be him and his brother is at Ingleside so I can't imagine you're describing Ingleside as a powerhouse. Give us another clue lol.

And they let him go, what 6 games into the season? The politics there are much like what goes on here in Alice sadly.

Bring on Art Briles!! Alice would jump from trash heap to S. Texas KING of football with Briles! Dude was a scapegoat - unless I don't have all the facts because I stopped following at some point. And give me a break with the trash heap comment. Your days of winning at Vets are over. Start cheering for Carroll. The trash heap comment wasn’t about the players. Alice dudes are ripped, strong, fast. It was directed at the management of the program/ISD. A dude like Art Briles would give 2 chits what anyone said. And honestly, everyone would just let him do his thing. I don’t know or care to know what happened… the dude straight up brought the offense… he’s a winner in my book.

After reading even more about the shady crap going on there I have to ask myself, who in their right mind would want this damn job.......much less what 50 people want it! I just don't see how any established head coach/AD would even look at it much less apply. So, I think the best hope is to find a diamond in the rough with a young OC or DC. I person will put up with a lot of distractions and bullchit if the money is really, really good (in any occupation) but I don't think this is the case here with this position. There are a hand full of small school AD/Head coaches that applied. Most successful of the bunch the Taft AD. There is one former AD from a 6a school but he has some baggage. The rest of the applicants are coordinators and assistants looking to make the jump. One name that stood out was a stud at a local powerhouse. Is he a head coach at said local powerhouse? An assistant? Just out of college?

I hope it is Eric Soza, and I hope Alice hires him. Dude has a heart of gold. It would be impossible for anyone in Alice to hate on him. And maybe it's the right time for him to shine in his own coaching spotlight.
The more I think about it, the more I think it's the perfect fit... Not just for Alice but for the Soza name. He would definitely check all the boxes in being able to turn Alice into an immediate contender. Dude is a legendary D1 quarterback who built the foundation at UTSA, has college coaching experience as a grad assistant, has several years of HS coaching experience, and has been a football player his entire life. He's him.

I was never a fan of lining up for a play then checking to the sidelines for the call. Even though Rockport and PLC ran different offenses, they both ran up the the line and before the defense had time to adjust, the ball was hiked. I feel Alice has the right personnel for that type of offense. I'm a correct in thinking the potential starting QB is more of a runner than passer?

Chris was from Alice, Eric is not... so I think that had something to do with the fanbase being split against Chris (maybe a bunch of jealous classmates or something, who knows). Beeville is not far from Alice, and he still has lots of family in town... Idk that could be a plus... being close to grandma/aunts/uncles/cousins. Plus he's probably near 30 years old now, if not 30+. It could be time to spread his wings. I don't think Chris is retiring for another 20 years. If not now, when? It's a big time position very close to his roots.
