I personally think we over-cooked CCVM and under-cooked Miller....the gap between those two this year isn't much either way...had a surprising comment from two CCISD HC's at the SQT last week both thought Miller was the team to beat with CCVM 2nd, but the gap between the CCVM and the field in CCISD has closed considerably I don't think you over-cooked CCVM by putting them over Miller. CCVM has the athletic DBs that aren't gonna just stand there and watch Miller's 2 wideouts pull in lobs over the DBs heads like most programs around here do. I think you under-cooked the 2 Victoria programs for that same reason. I get it with the 2 Victoria's because nobody ever knows which version is gonna show up. East brings back 8/6 though and that could equal to maturity that helps them be consistent. Until either of the VISD schools show some consistency. I can never be comfortable picking them over anyone. Not talking for a season. It's still week to week.

That's why I mentioned the consistency problem and how maybe returning 8/6 will help with that at least this season.

They both have returned players before and still didn't show the consistency you would expect. Until they do? ?

I think both the Victoria Schools could keep it respectable. But Carroll, Ray, King and Moody should be blowout wins for Vet's. VW has beaten Vets once in a really weird 9-6 overtime game in Victoria. And last season, VW literally had Vets beat… but Vets came up with 2 late pick 6’s (or something ridiculous like that) to win 26-24. Vets would have been the 4 seed if VW could have held it together. VW always has a decent shot at beating Vets. Vets is 3-1 all-time over VW VE, although a generally good team, has quite literally never been a threat to Vets… also weirdly so. I think closest they’ve ever been is a 42-6 type of game… sometimes it’s in the 60’s to very little. Because of that, I think Vets is in VE’s head… and will probably continue to live there rent free. Vets is 4-0 all-time over VE.

Don’t forget that Vets is 6-1 all-time against Miller. And that 1 Miller win? It was a 50-43 double overtime game that Vets was literally about to go up 30-0 in just before half… when things got weird… and stayed weird.

You conveniently forget to mention the fact that Miller was 1-9 in 2016 and Veterans barely escaped that on 41-34. Or how about 2017 when Miller was 4-6, or how about their 5-5 2018 season? Don't make it out like they are some powerhouse.

I think things happened last season that otherwise would have brought Miller back down to earth now that Andrew Body isn't there anymore. Sinton was missing a bunch of starters for the Miller game including their best player and only lost by 4, Alice was blowing Miller out then went conservative in the second half and lost by 4, Beeville got down inside the 10 and ran out of time and lost by 4. If those 3 games go the other way Miller is just another 4-6 team with no defense. You still have to give Miller credit for pulling it out but my point is I think even though they have more weapons than they've had under Evans this coming season they still don't have Andrew Body and so I think they get brought back down to earth this season. I don't think Body gets enough credit. That dude is gonna be starting in the NFL someday.
I'm sorry for yet again ruining the narrative that I'm here to kiss someone's a$$ but this is my honest opinion. Maybe I'll be wrong and Miller will tear it up because Like I said they do have a bunch of weapons but I don't know. I don't see them beating Vets or the 2 Victoria's and even Moody could give them a scare.

Vets may well win the district....I just honestly dont see them as the #11 team in 5A-D1 and I'm not sure their schedule even if they go 10-0 would be enough for me to believe....

Ray, King? Sorry not going to happen. Edit: I missed the 2023. It will be interesting to see how the Carroll program plays out.
