i feel like valley teams need to have a really good passing offense topped off with a true rb to make damage in the later rounds just in case the defense gets stingy vs the pass. . When mission vets made it they had a really big bruising back. He was 5’10 200+. The pioneer rb last year was really good imo but he was more of a pass catcher, and in plays like in ot where you needed that small push from a big back well they didnt have one i think they even had to put in a db as rb. The rumor transfer isnt that big but he does run with power and has some body control to fall forward So was this RB in the highlight reel a freshman last year?? If so, 14 year old freshman or a year behind freshman? either that or a sophomore. Im not sure. Not from that part of the valley but he was definitely an underclassman last year. He’s definitely younger than 16

La Feria was OKAY, for an RGV team... Last season they had a really good QB, I think he got hurt though in the playoffs... Compared to Vela, Harlingen or Pioneer though? La Feria wouldn’t be able to keep it within 35pts IMO... La Feria was 11-0 going into the play off game vs LH, and had destroyed everyone they played all season. Their QB was healthy and pretty good, but LH beat them 66-7. After catching up on this thread, how is Tivy, BC, Pioneer, and Brenham's Run Defense? oh man i wouldnt say the qb was healthy. He was in a horrible car accident a week before that. It was even a miracle he was able to play. He broke his foot and fractured bones all over his arm. It wouldnt have mattered tho , lh manhandled them regardless. But yes they did do good in the regular season but they had a pretty easy schedule aside of like 2 games. 4a is weak in the valley most of the time i think. Usually well have a team way better than the others and last year it was la feria and welp we saw what happened. Usually rio hondo or raymondville do decent too

Maybe a question for PLC and Calallen to answer

Tivy - no idea on this year, they lost their stud MLB. They didn't match up with Calallen well at all last year. Either the game plan, lack of physicalness (and speed), or Callallen was just firing on all cylinders that game. They didn't handle the slot t well at all IMO. Pioneer - BC ran for 200 yards in the playoff game, no idea for this year, or how their stats were against run teams. Brenham - they lost to Calallen. They had the size, but didn't seem to have the discipline vs. the slot T. Also, some of them were not physical as you might think (not coming up to take on the blocks etc) BC - our coaches know how to defend the Slot T, we just needed a couple stops vs. Calallen and PLC, and got them. Of course, that means your offense has to keep churning....thats TBD.

Our D was hammered by Calallen last year. I think it was a combination of bad gameplan and Calallen came to play. Our Defense actually played pretty good for us until that game. From what I have heard our coaches are excited about the D line and secondary. LB's are the question mark this year. Mixon was a stud and will be missed.

Mixon was indeed a stud, that guy could freakin stuff a hole, and make the tackle by himself.

Was it our best effort on defense? Nope. Our secondary got their lunch eaten twice on two big pass plays for TDs and our special teams were horrible which we gave up field position all night and BC scored on one kickoff return. Both defenses lacked on that evening, IMO.

I think Tivy was every bit as talented as BC last year, those teams were very similar. I think Tivy brought a bad gameplan and Cal had a hell of a game. The difference in the BC/Cal game was them receivers were able to get behind our secondary a couple times and it payed off bigtime. BC QB was able to scramble just long enough to get those big pass plays off. Our defense did not have a good game and picked a dangerous team to not be on point. BC came to play and finally got us!!

And........I can’t argue with the fact BC beat PLC, Cal and Pioneer. Champion took it and gave it right back. They did have a couple kids on defense that really got after it.

Alleged transfer rb to pioneer posted himself benching 405.... kid is strong for someone who looks to be 175 soaking wet. Well see how he fares in a tougher district. Also the rumor of another d1 wr moving to mission vets might be true. He was playing with the whole vets team during a 7v7 tournament vs other high schools/teams.. he will be a big upgrade. He would arguably become the top player overall in that team as he can play defense very well plus also being a d1 wr recruit. Would be a major upgrade to that defense if they plug him in there too but I doubt they would. And if the qb in those 7on7 games is also the former img well idk... lots of missed shots, and didnt have good touch on his throws and he eyes his wr too much but he does have a good deep ball and is pretty accurate when he has time . Im pretty sure mission vets had sa pretty good qb last year who went down to a broken leg. He was pretty good imo, wonder if he’s healthy (sry guys wasn’t actually him in the video but the center, honest mistake)

I hope Pioneer does get him and I hope Vets did get that D1 receiver to compliment AJ!

I think the great Arnold Schwarzenegger did somewhere in the 500's and that was way into his adulthood.
