Why do you think there will be any modification to the current UIL rules regarding transfers?? There won’t be I was wondering this as well. I'm not sure at all how the UIL will handle this situation as I don't think anyone else is either. I for one can see both sides. These kids, especially the seniors who've worked their entire life now are looking at their team cancelling their seasons deserve to get to play. Then, I think, well how in the hell is it fair if they are let transfer anywhere they want to play ball......I'd say that is for 'athletic purposes' which is clearly a UIL violation. I can see both sides of this for sure. Hell, Pioneer or someone else could very well be looking at basically an 'all-star' team so to speak. While I don't like the prospects of facing an All Star team, at the same time, as a Sr. parent, I am angry for these kids, what's being done to them is unforgivable.. I don't know the COVID data in that area, maybe its really still bad, but based on what I have seen, its more likely not justified, just throwing hands in the air and cancelling. But, again, i have no idea on their data.

The UIL got sued a few years ago by a swimmer who was not being allowed to swim for another district because her school did not offer swimming.... The student athlete won, I will look for the ruling and the article and post it... Basically the same thing for these boys from LaJoya if their season is cut which I’m hearing is pretty much all but done at this point...

The scenario you describe regarding the swimmer is different than the football one. The football players would need to sue the school district for cancelling the season. UIL wouldn’t be a party to this and their rules I would think stand. The UIL isn’t taking football away from these players, the school decision is

Hope no one shuts down kids being able to play at a new school because their old school canceled fall sports. Would be fun to see a RGV team in a semifinal.

We should know the official ruling today about La Joya. If they rule to cancel fall athletics which is what is expected to happen, there will be three football full football teams with 80-100kids a piece that are going to be pretty dang upset... I foresee legal action taken if a single kid is barred from transferring and GOD FORBID a family or child files a lawsuit for any psychological affects the cancellation of what to some kids is their whole lives...

I would really like to hope that no kid transferring anywhere from any school who's season has been cancelled gets ruled ineligible by either a DEC or the UIL! I do understand that these would be moves for athletic reasons, but this is not a normal situation for anyone! These kids have worked to hard not to allow them to move wherever they want to play......especially any seniors.

Back to football predictions. RGV - " I don’t think any team in Region IV can take Pioneer this season". How do you reconcile this vs. BC, Tivy or Brenham? BC returns 5/5 just like Pioneer. I know returning Metenburger is a big deal, but still a pretty bold statement.

If they've improved from last year than I think they have a good shot. No doubt having the QB back this year definitely helps. That kid is a play maker. Pioneer had a good enough team to win the region last year IMO but made too many bone-headed mistakes against BC. They dropped a lot of easy balls that killed them. The RGV is way, way overdue for a football regional champion in the top 2 classifications. My spreadsheet goes back 30 years to 1990 and the only two teams from the RGV on it as regional champs are Edinburg in 1999, and Mission in 1990. Both those region champs were at the highest division as well as Edinburg was 5a D1 at the time and Mission was 5a D2 back then. I do not have any RGV teams in the last 30 years shown as winning the region in the 2nd largest classification though. I really think that will change in the near future though. Pioneer may be just the team to do it this coming season. Just wait and see what Pioneer is getting from the surrounding schools who cancelled fall sports... I know of a RB FOR SURE sounds like a 2k yard rusher out of palmview huh 🤔

I know returning Metenburger is a big deal, but still a pretty bold statement. Certainly a bold statement indeed especially considering a RGV team has not won a R4 title in 5a in over 30 years. But, I do see the RGV gaining ground and getting closer every year and with the return of this QB to lead them, I'd say they do have legit shot again this year. They had BC on the ropes last year and if not for several mistakes, they win that game. Boyers for BC is gone and accounted for 303 passing yards and 2 TDs and another 114 rushing and 3 more TDs. ER Marburger is back and he accounted for nearly 600 yards passing and 2 TDs and another 2 TDs on the ground. Pioneer outgained BC in that game 658 yards to 507 but killed themselves with drop passes that would have been huge gains and drive extenders and or big scores but instead ended drives and allowed BC to get the ball back and score. If Pioneer had been able to run the ball just a little bit more successfully I think they would have won it last year.

sounds like a 2k yard rusher out of palmview huh 🤔 and links to video from last year of this RB? Good for them. Should be no excuse for Pioneer not to win the whole same thing. They have the 5A cover boy at QB, Eric Dickerson 2.0 at RB, and lots of other weapons I’m sure. And all they have to do this year is catch a couple more passes it sounds like. I just remember with game on the line last year they couldn’t get a yard, dropped passes aside

He’s productive and got ok size. He will be a true rb which is something they had lacked so he will definitely help if its actually him transferring. www.hudl.com/v/2DVc9H.

He’s small, but quick... The way Pioneer used Tristan Castillo last season should be interesting for sure with this kid... Tristan is still there though
