So you don't want to play the game cause of saving pitchers. Willing to go to a flip of the coin to decide playoff seeding is the same as deciding the champs. Imagine if a flip of the coin decides the difference in a bullet to the head or not. I understand why they didn't play the game but a hell of a way to decide your fate as far as playoff seeding. The deciding factor is who makes the deepest run in the playoffs. It is possible both teams could meet again in regional championships. Now that would be the meeting I would love to see. 3 game playoff at Whataburger. If I had to roll the dice on this, I don't think it will happen. A more likely scenario will be a CCISD (King or Vets) vs Cal or GP. Cal, for lack of a better way to put it, has underperformed in the playoffs ever since their last state title appearance. Chapman has always been a fan of the three game series, but looking over the balance of our results the last few seasons, we might have been better off going for the one gamers. We get beat by teams who don't necessarily have a ton of college or even MLB ready talent compared to the Cats (especially on the mound) , but a bunch of workhorses. They know if they can get into a three game series and pull out a victory against our number two pitcher or even pull the upset against our number one, when we have to use our number there or four in a game three, we have issues. Why? Because we hardly use our number three or four pitchers during the balance of the district schedule unless the team we are playing is not good at all and more than likely those games become run rule games which cut down the time on the mound and number of pitches thrown in a real game. They don't throw in a game where something is on the line like a playoff game and this is where it has come back to bite us in the playoffs. I bang my head on the wall trying to figure out with four playoff spots available why not just take a chance and throw the number three or four in a critical type game to allow him to get that experience early vs waiting to when the fire is really hot and there is no tomorrow. With the new pitch count rules, I would have thought maybe it would have forced our hand in developing game ready depth, but it hasn't been the case just yet.

Question for the Bluffers.
What's up with your baseball program? For awhile it looked like it was on an upward trajectory, but here you all are with no postseason.

Question for the Bluffers. What's up with your baseball program? For awhile it looked like it was on an upward trajectory, but here you all are with no postseason. I have no official connection to FBISD. Myself nor any family attended FB. My thoughts are from a fans observation and from input from players but mostly players parents. That being said I believe FB has a wealth of quality athletes as seen by their success in any other sport you can name. The issue in my opinion comes down to misplaced loyalty to a coach that has been in place for 22 years perhaps with tenure if that applies to HS. He is a hold over from a time when the school board and admin placed little value on sports as part of a quality education. In my opinion the situation the program currently suffers will not improve until that cancer is removed. I put previous short lived upturns down to truly gifted players getting it done on pure talent and skills coached elsewhere.

Others have moved on. Without pressure he won’t quit

Without pressure he won’t quit A couple of years back some pressure was finally building enough to boil over but backed off when he was going to retire at the end of the year was floated. BS to get by. The Athletic department has resisted pressure. It's going to have to come from the board.

Some coaches can adapt regardless of tenure and improve on what they have established (see Cal Football). Some just refuse for one reason or another. Those who don't will either see their programs get stuck in the muck or their school boards might find a reason to move on down the road. Some programs look like candy, rainbows and unicorns, but have issues internally and everyone and their cat and dog know needs attention but for one reason or another act like the see, hear and speak no evil memes . However the issue is allowed to grow like undetected tumor which one day might be taken care of. Or might not? And when it's not, they become a historic item vs a team or program still writing their own history.

Sinton 24th straight season in the playoffs and hope don't jinx it but haven't lost a bi-district game in that span. Sinton rank #13 in 4a in coaches poll. Sinton been missing couple of bats in their lineup for half the season now. Fr Rylan Galvan has been stellar as advertised. Sinton vs Rio Hondo in a one gamer Thursday and will go with Tx State signee Brett Brown on the mound.

Calallen lost 3-2 in eight innings in a one game playoff. That’s the roll of the dice a team who is not favored to win takes and it worked for Palmview.

That’s a tough one to put your season on a one roll of the dice. GP won 2-0 against RGC with games 2&3 if needed today at RGC at 5pm. Calallen will always go for the three game series, so this one was a roll of the dice on Palmview's part. One gamers usually take down a big favorite this time of year and those who are heavy underdogs having nothing to lose. I think Palmview was somewhere a few games north of .500. A few years ago, Moody was riding high and they played Alice in a one gamer. For what the chatter was back then, Moody had offered to play the entire series in Alice if they could do three instead of one. Alice had one outstanding pitcher who pratically won most of their games and was Alice's season record was few games north of .500. Sure enough the Alice pitcher probably pitched the game of his life and the Moody pitcher had his worse outing and Alice moved on. The Cal pitcher pitched well to win the game and reached his pitch count after the 7th. We left a ton of runners in scoring postiion all night long including a few bases loaded, but the lower end of our order was flat which has been an issue a few times this season. Why adjustments are not done before it really counts puzzles me, but it's been kind of trend the last few seasons. Hence our playoff runs have been shorter than the norm and certainly no where close to first decade of this century. To me some introspection needs to be taken because we are too long gone from Round Rock or even making a serious run.
