Looked it up in the bracket. All teams listed are still alive in the playoffs. So if you lose you can count on falling out of the spots held by someone still in. 16 teams left! Yep and Just like Ridge point if the 4 not listed in the poll get an upset win they will be and whoever they beat will be out. Until there are less than ten remaining.

FB plays Georgetown this round. Good stuff. Do you think yall will advance? No clue. I saw one game this year because a coworkers daughter plays. First girls softball game I have seen since I was a HS junior and was dating the pitcher in 1968.

The UIL has a webcast of the State Tournament and you could catch those games if FB makes it. 2 games in 47 years! Progress lol.

Curious as to why Barbers Hill would have fallen out of the top 10 because of losing in the playoffs. Specially all the way from #2. Are all of the 12 teams listed still in the playoffs. Lovejoy wasn't ranked last week and now they are number 9. This is a coaches poll so you see a balance of teams from across the state, i.e. everyone votes for teams from their district/region.

I understand a team moving down the polls when they lose a game many expect them to win. But for a team to drop from #2(top of the Poll) to past 13. (because of 3 #10's) the first week after the loss is what escapes me. Now if all the teams still in the polls continue to win then it will be a different story. Just waiting to see what happens when another Highly ranked team loses.

Aledo Sports Daily had a link to this artice. Lady Eagles ready to challenge No. 1 Aledo By Terrence Hunley terrence.hunley@amarillo.com It hasn’t taken long for Canyon coach Nicole Coffee to establish the Lady Eagles as one of the top teams in the Texas Panhandle. Now, Coffee’s Eagles have their eyes on being considered one of the top teams in the state as they take on defending state champion Aledo. “It’s a huge opportunity,” Coffee said. “This is what we’ve been working for all year. We set goals early on. We wanted to win district, we wanted to get back to where we were last year. Now we want to take it a step further and not only prove that we can not only compete with teams that are in our area but we can compete with the top teams in the state. That’s our mindset going in. We are going to accept the challenge and hopefully come out with a win this weekend.” Sophomore third baseman Sloane Precure said the Lady Eagles are ready to compete in the three-game series that begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Hermleigh. Game 2 is set for 11 a.m. Saturday with Game 3 to start 30 minutes following, if necessary. “Last year I went to the state championships just to watch them,” Precure said. “They are a really good team. From what I can tell, they aren’t as great of a team as they were last year. Their pitching is going to be about the same speed we’ve been seeing but she has a lot of movement on the ball. If we come out to hit and we don’t make errors then we have a chance to beat them. They are definitely a beatable team. They better be ready.”Aledo sits at 17-0 this season. “We know they are a good team,” Coffee said. “They are solid all the way around. They are good offensively, they can hit the ball well one through nine. They have a good defense. They have one really good pitcher that they rely on. We know it’s going to be tough. But we are going to go in hopefully putting a lot of pressure on them. Hopefully we can make the adjustments we need to make against this pitcher and have an offensively strong game.” Junior shortstop Alyx Cordell said it’s a chance to make Canyon softball mean more to the average fan. “Canyon softball has never been a huge thing like Canyon football,” Cordell said. “To go up against one of the top teams and be the underdog, to show what we are made of, is a huge opportunity. That doesn’t come very often. We are the only team left, so it’s a big opportunity and we are thankful for it.” Precure said the goal is to give it everything they’ve got. “To be able to face the defending state champs is crazy,” Precure said. It’s such a privilege to be able to play one of the top teams in the state. Our biggest goal, whether we get to the state tournament or not, is to come out and do our best against the best team in the state.” Cordell said the Lady Eagles need to treat it like any other game. “The mindset isn’t any different for us,” Cordell said. “We are just going to pretend like they are any other team like how we play Randall or how we play Caprock. We have to go out there with the same mentality. It doesn’t matter that they won state last year. It’s a new team and a new year, anything can happen this year.” amarillo.com/sports/high-school-sports/2015-05-19/lady-eagles-ready-challenge-no-1-aledo
