So, you think that an DL that wants to get noticed can do so on a team that he will be triple teamed on every snap? Or a OL on a team that has no RB's that can break even 1 tackle? Or do you think a DL could get a tackle if the other team never runs his way because the other side is soft? Or the other OL is throwing him a dbl team every snap? Most of these kids gets noticed for the first time because of some eye popping stats. Good players on bad teams get noticed way less than average kids on good teams. You and I may notice them if we see them every week, but we don't count. The scouts do. If a team goes 2-3-4 rounds in the playoffs, they have a much better chance to get noticed than a team that plays 10 and done. Those 2-3-4 round games are usually done in larger venues. Ones that have the chance for 4-6 teams to be at. I have sat with scouts at these venues that came to see "no one in particular". Would that have happened if 2-7 team was playing 1-8 team? No way. Nonsense. Like I said, Randy King and Trent Perkins of Alice's 2005 team both got scholarships to D1 Big 12 schools and they were on a little Alice team that didn't even make the playoffs. There is another example I want to use but I can't remember which player it was. It's a receiver in the NFL a couple of years ago. He was on a high school team that went 0-10 and ran the Wishbone. Your example of a 4-6 team as opposed to a team making it 2 or 3 rounds deep in the playoffs is bogus. More players get noticed on those deep playoff teams because those teams are going deep for a reason... because they have those stud players. You think Adrian Peterson wouldn't have been noticed if he played for Moody? You think Peyton Manning wouldn't have been noticed if he played for Robstown? Nonsense. Scouts aren't stupid. My example wasn't of A 4-6 team. It was of a team playing where four to six teams will be playing at in 1 day, i.e the Alamodome or Dallas Stadium during the playoffs. Also, we are not talking about the Adrian Petersons and the Peyton Manning's. We are talking about kids that are on the edge of D1, not the sure fire 5-star kids. If you think that kids on a losing team in South Texas have the same shot at being "seen" as a kid on a team that goes 3-4 rounds deep in the playoffs and gets to play in the Alamodome or another large venue where there may be 3-5 other teams playing, then you don't know much about recruiting.

lmfao. Ok so what you are saying is that all these players playing in D1 all played in high schools that went 3 or 4 rounds deep? I love how all of you conveniently ignore my examples. Randy King and Trent Perkins were on an Alice team that didn't even make the playoffs yet both got Big 12 D1 scholarships. IF YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH YOU WILL GET NOTICED AND AT LEAST HAVE A COACH SMART ENOUGH TO PUT OUT THE WORD FOR YOU. All this nonsense about small colleges that don't have enough money to waste time in South Texas might have been a valid excuse 20 years ago. But we live in a time where kids make their own recruiting videos and put them up on recruiting sites for anyone to see for FREE. Sorry but I stand behind my statement that IF YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH YOU WILL GET NOTICED NO MATTER WHERE YOU PLAY. We can all agree to disagree. But something tells me that if I was on the other side of the argument you guys would be on this side of the argument. Some of you just run your mouth for the sake of debating Cochino.

You've given two examples. One, an offensive lineman who went 6'6", 285, and was ranked the #32 offensive tackle nationwide in his class. You could have picked up DCTF that year, seen that Alice had an o-lineman with that kind of size, and his size alone would have made him worth a look. Guys with that kind of size don't grow on trees. The other, a DE who was 6'4", 245, and ran the 40 in 4.7. Again -- that kind of size and speed doesn't grow on trees, and again it's something you could have discovered from Dave Campbell's. These guys don't really make the point you're trying to make. Yes, college recruiters will go down to South Texas to check out known manbeasts. The better question is, how does a team with those two guys not make the playoffs? Does putting a recruiting video on a recruiting site (or YouTube) make it easier to get noticed? Sure, but there are a zillion players who upload recruiting videos. And do you honestly think that college coaches are going to hand out scholarships based on a recruiting video? Wouldn't you want to at least go check the kid out in person and make sure he's not a total fraud before you sign off on a scholarship?

Enough with all the excuses and garbage. I'll make it very simple... IF YOUR KID IS REALLY THAT GOOD HE WILL GET NOTICED NO MATTER WHERE HE PLAYS. Alice has put at least 3 players in the NFL. Marv Brown, Chris Brazzell and Sonny Brown. Sonny Brown was the MVP of the Orange Bowl on the Oklahoma Sooners National Championship team in the mid 1980's. How many NFL players has Calallen put out? Jack squat. Alice had 2 players on just the 2005 team sign scholarships with Baylor and Oklahoma State. And that team didn't even make the playoffs. So give me a break with the "my kid needs to go to X school to get noticed" nonsense. Wrong again Cochino Calallen had brad Crowley get drafted by the Chicago bears. Also Brandon bonds signed a pro deal if I'm not mistaken. So they have had nfl talent....

Also as far as getting recruited, I work for a recruiting service now and the school you go to does matter to an extent. When we start contacting college coaches they ask about the program they come from. If they are a stud in a small pond with few athletes, they are not as interested as a stud in a big pond with other quality players that they still outshine. It's such a great job getting to evaluate talent and help them get into school legitimately..

One of my buddies in college was the backup QB (okay, more like fourth-string) and he pointed out that if you were the starting QB at a good program, at a large high school, you had to beat out three or four other guys just to be the starter. The mere fact that you're starting there says a lot. On the other hand, when I went to the Pilot Point-Aubrey game last year (a 2A and 3A school in Denton County, respectively), I immediately concluded that at least 90 percent of the players on both teams wouldn't see the field for Guyer. And if those guys are starting, who are they beating out for starting jobs?

Wouldn't you want to at least go check the kid out in person and make sure he's not a total fraud before you sign off on a scholarship? Why didn't that team make the playoffs? Well it was a program in trouble. In 2000 Coach Whatley retired. 2001 Alice hired Coach Clark. 2002 Alice rehired Whatley. 2005 Alice hired Coach Davis. All those coaching changes in that little time wasn't a good situation. And that team wasn't too bad. The losses were to Calallen, and close losses to FB and GP. Finished 7-3. But still I stand behind my point which is that you will get noticed if you are that good regardless of where you play. And I didn't just give 2 examples. I gave the 2 RECENT high school kids getting Big 12 scholarships and 3 guys making it to the NFL. Actually there was another that had try outs with multiple NFL teams, Acuna was his last name. So there is at least 4 NFL examples from Alice. More irony, Acuna's younger brother transfered to play for Calallen. So I loved it when he was a part of that first Calallen team to lose to Alice. lol. Irony.
