I started training for this years run last month. I had really let my weight get away from me, but I have managed to shed 25lbs so far, and if I can knock another 20 off before the race, I will be good to go. I only have time to run during my lunch and after work, but I'm able to run 6 minute first mile and then around 8 after that. I'm up to 9 mile runs on the weekends so I should be ready for this thing come November. Anybody else on here going to run this year, or anybody run last year? runrocknroll.competitor.com/san-antonio

No I dont plan to run in it. But I probably should. I need to drop about 50 pounds to be comfortable with my weight but 100 would be ideal to get that beach body back. good luck to you though.

I don't think so. LOL I ran daily for a lot of years until one day my knees said that will be enough of that. There are two of them, what could I do? You're day will come and then you might rethink that golf thing.

I used to train and compete in 10K, 15K, and the Army 10-miler. Football injuries to my knees and knee injuries while in the Army have deteriorated to now I can only walk, bike-ride, and swim. I used to run 5-minute miles for these races. Now I am in pain with a swollen knee every day. I received 40% Disability from the VA for my knees. Good luck to you!

You got me remembering my running days. I ran this half marathon once in the early 80s in San Diego. It was through the UCSD campus part of the way and there were some HOT girls running. I chased this one mile after mile and could never close any distance. If you haven't been there, it is very hilly and some pretty step grades. Finally, she slowed and I stepped it up some and just as I got to her she got through changing her music and took off again leaving me in her dust.

You're day will come and then you might rethink that golf thing. Went to run this morning and into the afternoon at Hazel Bazemore park, I made 5 trips around and after each round I must admit River Hills Golf Course looked better and better. Once I finished the run it was my intent to go grab a quick shower and then get 18 in. Too that end, I got the shower in, but never made it past the garage door.

Runner here....I haven't had the time to train for a full marathon but I have ran 4 half marathons and several 5ks,etc.
I ran the SA RnR 1/2 marathon last year....did yall hear about the train that came by in the middle of it? Yeah, I was part of the lucky ones in Corral 4 that got halted by the train near Sunset Station. It added nearly 5 minutes to my time and they never corrected it. Oh well, I know inside what my real time was.

Jesus de la Christmas, are you flippin guys nuts or what?!!! The worst part of football and basketball was all the damn running! LMAO I can remember my freshman year in track and they wanted me to run like 5 miles or some BS like that. I told them I threw shot and discus and if they wanted me to keep throwing the shot and the discus.................I'd spend an hour in the freaking weight room while the runners ran 5 freaking miles! LMFAO You guys are crazier then a one-eyed mule! Running SUCKS!
Seriously, my hat is off to you. My wife ran it two years ago and it takes guts to do it.

The Shot Put and Discus squad would look at the coach when he said to run a warm-up lap around the track. I think they did a lap in about a 3 minute jog/ walk. Bleachers/ Stairs...OMG! Those were the killers!

Hell, in HS we ran them with a teammate on our backs. Sweet youth.
