OK, I though this might be a thread to get some good off-season talk going here. I put it under the 4a football threads because this page seems to get the heaviest traffic but I am going to include 5a Steele in here since they are my boys.
I'm only able to make 1 or 2 Clemen's games a year now since we make all the Steele games with my daughter in the band and my boy in the program at the middle school feeding Steele but I do know a few kids coming back that could be very good ones for the Buffs for sure and I'll list them below at the bottom.
It will be good to 'get to know' each of your teams expected studs for 2012 before the season kicks off!
The Knights have a really good Sr class coming back with multiple playmakers on defense and two major D1 Sr safeties and a D1 D-lineman and possible CB if the kid has a good year. On offense, their QB will be a Sr 1st year starter that played a lot last year at QB and started all the playoff games at WR. They have another D1 Sr WR that will play slot in college and several younguns that will be D1 in the future including Jr RB Justin Stockton.
Steele Knights
Defense - seniors
Erik Huhn Safety 6'3"+ 220+ (major D1 with multiple offers)
Jordan Sterns Safety 6'0" 200 (verbally committed to TT)
Cory Staud DT 5'10" 270 (getting a ton of looks including Air Force)
John Burton CB 5'10" 180 (physically gifted athlete that should be a D1 DB)
Jalen Maddox LB 5'10 200+ (started in most of games last year at MLB including all 6 playoff games
Jaelen Lewis 5'11" 220+ LB (started in almost half of all games last year at MLB)
Fred Villalobos DB 6'1" 190
Defense - Juniors
Josh Malin DE 6'3" 230 ( this kid has it all and will be a great one)
Matthew Simmons DE 6'2" 220 (kid as the pedigree and the tools to be a good one)
Mason Martinez DT 6'0" 250 (projected starter at the other DT
Defense - Sophomores
Zach Edwards DL 6'1" 210+
Offense - Srs
Mathew Mayle WR 5'10" 180 4.5- (lightning quick, great hands, nasty, & hard worker - will be a great slot rec in college)
Thaddeos Thompson WR 6'+ 200+ (BIG, STRONG, fast, and will go get anything thrown up)
Breylynn McCullom QB 6'+ 195 (Smart, athletic kid with good speed & arm that is said to be more accurate then Tommy Armstrong although he cannot throw it 80 like Tommy, but 60+ will do!)
Jonathan Lundy OL 6'5" 320
Offense - Jrs
Justin Stockton RB 5'9" 175 4.3 (FAST! This young man started all 16 games last year and played in 11 games his freshman year. Major D1 prospect for 2014)
D'Angelo Wallace RB 5'9" 145 (QUICK as a cat & runs very tough for his size. Played a lot as a soph last year and has D1 athletic potential)
Cameron Jackson OL 6'4" 310+ (Pedigree - Big Bro started 32 games the last two years at Center and this kid should be as good or better)
Cody Wallace TE 6'5"+ 210+ (potential GREAT TE but also plays basketball and football might take back seat as his momma is girls head basketball coach at Steele - very good athlete)
Matthew Moen TE 6'2" 215
Offense - sophomores
Gregory Williams RB/QB 6' 180 (good arm, fast as hell, played in several playoff games last year as a freshman.....scary how much he reminds everyone at Steele what Tommy Armstrong looked like as a freshman!)
Jalen Harris RB 5'9" 170 (extremely quick & elusive. This kid played in several playoff games last year as a freshman. Could be the next great RB at Steele but will play 2nd fiddle to Stockton for two more years until his senior year in 2014 season)
What is scary is these are the kids that stood out the most in the spring game last week but there were a TON of other freshman and sophomores that I had no idea who they were that were simply HUGE and or fast as Hell. I think there will be several kids not on my list step up and have a break out year as soph, Jrs, and Srs this year.
Samuel Clemens Buffaloes
Offense
Devin Sampsell SR RB 5'11" 180
Christopher White Sr OL 230
Cody Skains SR OL 290
JJ Elkins Jr QB 175
Demarius Burton Jr RB - small but very fast and potential D1 prospect
Defense
Zack Medina Sr DB 170 Started all games last year and very good player
Isaiah Bryant Sr LB 210
Kyle Shaw Sr DL 280
Dominique Moore Sr DE 200
