Clem and sotex you seem to not come up with those great coaches. I shall post a 3 generations of family of very good coaches. They may have not accomplished all that Coach Gordon Wood did but they are Hallof Famers.
Legendary high school football coach Eddie Joseph dies. Joseph is a Texas High School Coaches Association 1983 Hall of Honor and Texas High School Football Hall of Fame 1994 inductee. Katy head coach Gary Joseph is his son.
My father Eddie Joseph left us this morning to go be with our Lord and creator. He was the single biggest influence in my life and he made a major impact on countless others.
We appreciate your prayers and will share information once further arrangements have been made. His ties to southeast Texas include coaching under Gordon Wood at Victoria in the late 1950s and a 14-year career as Wharton's head coach and athletics director starting in 1968. 10:42 AM · Mar 31, 2019
Joseph is well known in the state of Oklahoma as well. In between the coaching posts at Victoria and Wharton, Joseph spent time at Oklahoma City's Bishop McGuiness High School, where he won four consecutive Catholic State Championships.
The Dallas Jesuit graduate played at Oklahoma University, Austin College and at Camp Pendleton with All-Service team selections. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years. Prayers this morning for the Joseph Family! Coach Eddie Joseph was a great man and phenomenal leader for our Coaches Association! We will miss you coach! Joseph's post-coaching career included extensive work with the Texas High School Coaches Association, which included serving as president from 1979-1980 and as executive vice president from 1991-2003. He was also honored by the National Football Foundation and Collegiate Hall of Fame in 1994.
