Two on smoaky has two different numbers for Lindale. One is 1198 and the second is 1154. Its an easy fix if they are 5A. Just throw them in with the East Texas schools. That would give East Texas nine teams.

Not to throw a wrench into your efforts, but I heard from a pretty reliable source in the LISD that all the 5a Austin ISD schools will be opting up to be 5a DI. Sounds like this is going to be a cluster when the dust actually clears. I have to question why an ISD would want to opt up schools if they didn't have to for geographical reasons. Scheduling in all sports is an easy fix because your schools that opt up can still play the ones that didn't in non district. It kind of defeats the whole purpose for this split thing. With all six Austin ISD schools in the same division (5a DI) I’ll bet it’s because they’ll be guanteed at a minimum one if not two playoff spots for any sport in an 8 or 9 team district. Austin LBJ would be left out in the cold most years in rtxc1 ‘s projected 5a DI District 12. Whereas if placed in with the other AISD schools they’d most likely rule the roost... at least in football!

In Football, Flour Bluff will certainly get one the next two years unless their pipeline craters.

UPDATE: Added Lindale to 5A D2. Whether Lindale has the bigger number or not, with Splendora's number being changed, I can add them in.

Just for fun I looked up the drive times from Calhoun to: McCollum 2:43 Southside 2:41 Floresville 2:10 Alice 2:09 Tuloso-Midway 1:44 Calallen 1:40 Gregory-Portland 1:22
As per Google MapQuest. Could be some very late nights getting back from Ballgames.

I like it and it makes logical sense - Which means the UIL will NEVER do it. 😎

I like it and it makes logical sense - Which means the UIL will NEVER do it. 😎 Thanks. It's a work in progress, however, because I just can't figure out who is opting up to D1. I'm hearing Edgewood ISD schools are opting up, but that makes zero sense given how small they are. Also, why would Austin ISD opt their schools up?

True, but with 5 D2 schools, at least 1 will get in, likely 2.

McCallum and maybe Lanier should be allowed to opt up. The rest are small 5A's and couldn't beat anybody anyway. Heck Seguin slaughtered Travis and only finished 2-8. The only way Crockett made the playoffs is that they were a tiny bit better than the rest.
