Are GP fans disappointed with the Davis era so far? Underwhelmed with how GP has performed under Davis? The answer to me is no, Davis on day one told us his program will take 4 years to produce the type of performance we want. Now understand we are not talking exclusively football only. Many sports at GP are performing at the best performances in a decade. Middle school through JV are winning district in beyond in volleyball, basketball and track with numerous athletes making it to the state championship. In football every team from 7th grade to JV won district. The program is working and this Davis”s 4th year. What he promised is working and each year football is getting better.

In football every team from 7th grade to JV won district. The program is working and this Davis”s 4th year. What he promised is working and each year football is getting better. Coach Brent Davis made a lot of changes in Coaches his first year. He got some resistance from one administrator I know of. She has retired. There are a lot of teachers taking care of each other and they have large family’s. I know of several teachers coaching that I made a comment that GP needed to get rid of them and my own daughter said we need to leave them alone, they will retire in a few years . They do a lot of damage in a few years. One of them was girls basketball coach. She was a GP retread and her mother was a GP teacher. Here is Coach Davis problem. He has not exactly set the woods on fire. He does not have a lot of stroke. Coaching changes are still ongoing. He has made some mistakes and every coach does. The academics at GP has improved more than athletics. Coach Davis has not won the big ones. That needs to change. Hopefully the change in QB Coach will help. My retired teacher daughter has teacher friends and does not like changes that affect her friends. The same goes on with coaches that are retreads. They have large family’s in Portland. We don’t know what the AD is up against. Coach Davis will be in his fourth year. GP fired Coach Carlo Mircovich after one year. It was politics. I have a great grand daughter hitting HS and two great grandsons in middle school. I have two great grand sons that have not started grade school and they will be strong football players probably in the offense line. They are going to be big boys and their dad was a Wildcat.

Reading post on here and dealing with posters that want to silence anyone who disagrees with them reminds me of kids playing a Game King of the Hill. One person climbs on top of a pile of dirt and everyone else tries to knock him off. The only way to win is to be the biggest bully. And even if you do win, you get beat up in the process.

Did GP scrimmage on Thursday? The usual chirping birds aren’t chirping about it, so it must not have been that remarkable.

Gp did scrimmage and they definitely have room for improvement. There were some big plays made on both side of the ball, however it was very choppy. A lot of mistakes that have to be cleaned up. You can definitely see the potential though.

He ran a package of plays, he did not play during the 2 live quarters.

Haven’t heard much from them until this week, and it seems like they must’ve won the scrimmage or did good.

It was a great matchup for our one and only scrimmage.

It was a great matchup for our one and only scrimmage. Not sure who returned for VW but their last game was a 51-48 lost to Miller the day after Thanksgiving. So they turned it around in the end. Lost twice to Miller 52-45 in October. VE beat VM. Then VE lost to PSJA - North. North lost to Brownsville Vets 45-28. Then Miller lost to Vets 35-28. Crazy end to last season. But V West is doing good

Yes. VW looks like they can be an explosive team on offense. Defense looked pretty good on the edges.

VW returned 6 on offense and 5 on defense from a 5A D1 regional finalist. But they got Alamo Heights, Boerne, SA Vets, Kerrville Tivy, Harlandale, McCollum in their district.
