I lost two friends that posted on this forum. 81 and 83. Loosing 83 (Cecil) stung and still does. His son is a coach at Calallen Jr high. Great kid and ran a 4.3 40yrd for time back in his hay day. Still love Cecil cheers when taking shots "F calallen". His partner at his firm was from Calallen and Cecil said it all the time. lol I thought Cecil was 81? Anyway I know you guys were close, and yes, it hurts. Oh ya thats right Cicil was 81 and Jim was 83. Duh! Anyways I feel that this GP team will be stingy.

And if GP loses it's because they were all freshman and sophomores. There's no pressure on Calallen for this. We shouldn't win this game. New coach, new offense and defense. GP's coach is in year 4. And I think everyone agrees that Calallen's team last year wasn't definitely not good. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. Oh heck. I’m putting my cards on the table. Calallen 31. Gregory from Portland 21 Reeve gets his first win at Calallen and geepee starts another decade of losing to Calallen. GP is returning 2 starters on defense. Plus Calallen will have two scrimmages under belt and Calallen has new offense no has seen - yet. Yep - Calallen will score not sure about the 31.

I was thinking about 83 earlier this week. (RIP Jim) I started laughing about the “greatest team south of Lake Travis” bit. That had to be the most hilarious thing ever posted on here! “Stealth”
Thanks for the memories Jim.

Brownwood used to schedule Abilene Cooper for their first game.

Yes, its weak but playing Cal, Sinton and Alice will help prepare this team.

I just finished reading the book "SEASON OF LIFE" by Jeffrey Marx and I recommend it for everyone with a son.

Bonneau is one of the strongest linemen in the state who bench presses 535 lbs. Dooms will have the best line to protect him and open up those holes for Adame.

It doesn’t matter how big you are if you have slow feet. I watched a right side end or tackle with slow feet and the opponent on a blitz was successful sacking Reed Dooms and sailing past the block. Bench press biceps is for the girls and legs is for blocking. Step dip and uncoil. Agility should start in Junior high. I wish I had made a video of me jumping rope when I was younger. To music “Sweet Georgia Brown”. The spread is mostly pass blockers and reason you don’t have a running game. Give me a right guard about 200 lbs that can trap block and block down field. GP has a new QB Coach and needs a top O line coach. I am for blocking and tackling. I wonder what Coach Jimmy Johnson would charge to come and Coach tackling. I think that Coach at Calallen has coached against GP before. I could be wrong. I came from Coyote country. There was a team on the other side of town the Booker-T Washington Leopards. Both teams were state champions. I watched the Oil Bowl games every year. I watched Breckenridge Coach by Emory Bellar. Byron Townsend of Odessa Bronchos. Highland Park with Doak Walker and others. I have watched two state title games in the same day. I watched the famous Warren McVea vs Linus Bauer game in black and white on TV. I don’t want to see a 300 lb lineman back pedaling into Reed Dooms trying to throw a pass. Then there is the problem of a receiver taking forever to get open. It takes a village.

I just know old Pico will come over the bridge to attend a GP favorite. This evening there will be the 2024 Honk Parade that runs from Northshore CC to Ray Akins stadium. Maybe this years Honk Parade master of ceremonies will be GP37. He sure like to piss on GP55”s parade.

Now hold on 37, my old nawgin still works pretty good, didn’t you once say since you had skinny chicken legs that would repulse Colonel Sanders, your coach wouldn’t move you to varsity? Wes Bonneau and Schmidt are damned good linemen and no one’s going to push them anywhere. Both of them will be playing next season in college.
