That kids got a leg! So far special teams winning this game. SV 5 Aledo 0 5-0. Iowa is sending recruiters as fast as they can.

Aledo weathered the SV storm perfectly and now in firm control. SV offense is getting too cute. Just play football.

They finally called a PI on Aledo, only took 4 layups for the refs to make one. SV QB has to connect on that wide open throw and it’s a different game.

Aledo exposing SV safeties. SV offense being predictable not helping. Tough hill to climb.

I wish they'd go back to letting coaches choose like the 80s and before. Or don't give Jerry Jones more money. Switch to college stadiums and rotate yearly and let D1,D2(Not TAMUK), and nicer D3 stadiums host. That would allow these colleges to see these kids, that would allow colleges to make some extra money, and it would give each region a chance to host the title games. So now kids get to sleep in their own beds various years and eat good home cooked meals those years too... It will be interesting to see where things land once Bally Sports goes off the air . The defenders of the status quo use the Bally sports (aka former Fox Sports SW) as the glue that held the central location thing together and the only way all 12 games could be broadcast. Recall they used to just do the 6A game ( then 5A) and maybe if TV schedules allowed it, they did the 5A then 4A game. Some of the others made it on a tape delay to be played at midnight, etc. And for all of those that say travel costs and all the variables of getting to stay close to home don’t matter need to get over yourself. I’ve always thought the excuse about not playing these games in San Antonio was horse crap because somehow the Alamodome is good enough to host the NCAA final four every few years. Oh the lockerooms get thrown in there. Again, somehow the dome gets used for playoff triple headers during playoff season. Here’s the thing. If the UIL made a serious effort to let it be know they would play this series every other year or on some other rotational block , I bet my bottom dollar the San Antonio people would make it happen. But they are not. Prove me wrong on this, but I bet a steak and beer they’ve never had serious sit down discussions about this. If locker rooms are an issue, temporary buildings can be brought in to fix this. I watched some of the Florida championships played at Florida A&M and they showed some of the teams pre game speeches being done in temporary structures. But back to the TV contract. What is going to be the excuse the DCTF people and the UIL use if they can’t get another network to do it? The key pillar of their argument to keep it central for broadcast logistics goes completely out the window then.

CCWARCAT told us only PSJA North could hang with Aledo. Aledo would’ve been calling down their 8th graders from the stands to report to the locker room at halftime to suit out for potential action in the 4th qtr.

They finally called a PI on Aledo, only took 4 layups for the refs to make one. SV QB has to connect on that wide open throw and it’s a different game. The officiating in the first qtr was horribly slanted towards Aledo. Why do these Houston Chapter Refs always seem to have to kiss ass to top programs at these championships? Is it because they want to make sure they get the call the following year? At the end it didn’t matter, but you had one facemask that got missed. An obvious late hit out of bounds and the punter practically getting buried in the turf and no calls in the first qtr. And here we go…. Thou shall not criticize Refs because of shortages. Oh screw that when what was seen in that first quarter is obvious incompetency or something else at play. Pleases note this doesn’t take away from the later ass whooping Aledo put on SV. It couldn’t help but set the tone for later though in some aspects.

Well as a coach in the private school sector 2013 and 2014. 6 man football. We played our title games in the big huge mega stadium of Huto Parks and Rec complex. Man talk about some state of the art facilities and broadcasting booths!!! For the halftime show we had a train roll through and almost knock over the score board!! That was exciting!!! Of course the wild deer getting scared and running from the brush onto the field and then crapping when it saw all the people was almost as amusing... trying to get a bunch of rednecks to not hunt the deer was harder lol... Anyway our kids didn't care that year that we played in a crap hole of a stadium. They were playing for the title!!! The next year our league upgraded to playing at Moody High School in Moody, Texas. They are still out in the sticks but have a very nice athletics facility for a small school in Central Texas. Again, kids didn't care. They didn't say why can't we play at Jerryworld. They said "We are playing for a title, let's go finish this!" In TAPPS they play title games at Waco Midway. They used to play 6 man title games at Zephyr. Only 2 schools in TAPPS in Waco, only 4 in Temple or Waco. Only one of those has made a title game in any of the sports. They were the DeSoto of TAPPS during that time. Again the kids don't care that they are not at Jerryworld and they are just at a high school. I can also tell you those parents aren't complaining either! They are paying good money for those schools, some of those schools charge 15-25k a semester. So basically small to medium college tuition, and they have to pay to play athletics in many schools in TAPPS and many other private school leagues too. Yet they have no issue with a no frills location being the state title game. As for your 5A plays later in the week ok congrats they play later in the week. Travel still takes away a day of practice. Point is still valid. As for FBFan, yes coaching network you will find a place but it's not your stuff, it's not your place, it's not your schedule. It makes a difference man. The local team not having any interruptions has a huge advantage. Sorry partner but there is no way I'm believing the players were just as happy having the game of their life at something less. Nope no matter what they said. I’m old enough to remember when the Astrodome was treated like Jerryworld….. teams were just as happy to play for a title at Kyle, DKR or whatever the name of the old stadium at Baylor was back in the day. Heck Calallen played for their first one at Round Rock ISDs stadium which was thought to be fancy Nancy back then before the great high stadium race got kicked off a few years later.

Yep, I remember seeing Navasota, Brenham, Calallen, LaMarque, etc play in the dome back in the day. Navasota played Southlake Carroll at Floyd Casey in Waco for the 3A title in ‘88 when I was a kid. My parents remember my grandfather waiting in line for 30 minutes to get me a hot dog, only for me to bite into it and shoot the weiner 5 rows down onto someone’s back. Fun times and memories.
