When was the last time a valley team went this far? Never The announcers said it was the first time. SV will be too much for them but great achievement regardless

When was the last time a valley team went this far? Never The announcers said it was the first time. Edinburg played in the 1999 State Semi Finals against Aldine Eisenhower. It only took 4 playoff games to reach the Semi Finals back then as a “big school” team under the old system, so 14 game season instead of 15, but still captured a regional title and lost in the semis.

As others have mentioned, Port Isabel captured a regional title in 1994 and 2003 as well.

Now that I think about it Mission, led by Koy Detmer, also lost in Semi finals to eventual champs Aldine in 1990.

That stadium was PACKED. What's cool is kids of players on that team are coming up as freshman and sophomores.

No lead is safe if you can’t play defense. You had a (28-7) lead & blew it in the 4th …. I don’t know if coaching was part of the problem, not executing on offense or not making 3 and outs on d ….. when you have a lead & blow it win it’s ruins your night. Many reasons why Evans & Miller always chokes in big games that cost them in the past. Great season for Miller & Congrats to BVM

Guess I haven't predicted a score for this one yet... so here it goes. Miller 59 Bro Vets 28 Miller moves on to Round 5 and continues the CC dominance in 5A1 Region IV for the 4th consecutive year. Dude - What the heck?? I totally thought this would happen and you predicted a blowout?? Go BVM!!

What a game to experience and be a part of, I really thought that Miller was on its way to sending Vets packing but I don’t know what changed in the fourth quarter. I have seen teams with big leads fall but Miller just collapsed right in front of everyone. Congrats to my hometown on making history and making the 956 proud…..Go Chargers

There's also a Mission team from the 1940s (the team the great Tom Landry was on) that went 13-0 but at that level at the time, they didn't go beyond the region.

I think it will be a closer game. I even think it will be low scoring like 28-31. If there are available tickets. Where do you get them online? Called it

Fun fact: The 2003 Tarpons only played 14 games. Although they played 5 playoff games, they only played 9 regular season games. Their non-district game vs. Los Fresnos was cancelled due to PI's home field being flooded after a solid 28 hour rainfall, and the teams were unable to locate another neutral field. That's still 5 rounds deep in the playoffs and that's the point. The point was the record. You even asked "what record"? but I said "no" unless BVM won tonight. BVM really should be the 3rd team in RGV history to play 15 games in a season, but mother nature had other plans for PI's 2003 team
