The word on SOC this season is their offense is more improved at this juncture of the season over last season, but their defense is not nearly as good as last season. Then you hear talk about how they are "coming together" defensively for the playoffs....all of a sudden. Well...good luck to that against Region 2 is all I have to say about that. Good luck this week against Melissa....I have Melissa winning this week and SOC going home crying. I could be wrong....this game will be worth the watch.

I think it is a fairly close game but I just don't see Pioneer getting enough stops to beat LH.

Yeah.....I figure Pioneer may be able to pass their way to a win this season against Liberty Hill. That could happen no doubt. LH's pass D is not very good that is for sure. See Hutto/LH for a good example. lmao

See Hutto/LH for a good example. lmao Yes, it's usually not very good. Like most programs they tend to have the same strengths and weaknesses year after year. This year however it's been strange to see the LH running attack stopped more than once...I mean this is a program that even racked up a lot of running yards against a giant South Oak Cliff team a couple years ago.

Pieper is really the only team that shut down LH's run game fully. Other than that Rouse did a pretty good job only allowing 234 yards but it was still 4.5 yards per carry for LH in that game. Other than those 2 teams LH had no less than 312 yards in a game or less than 5.7 yards per attempt. Even against Wagner they still ended wiht 323 on 50 carries for 6.5 ypc. I don't know if any team in the state runs the ball as well as LH does that is for sure.

We are down to 4 now in R4.
Area Round Results: Pieper 38 Mission Vets Mem 6 Alamo Heights 49 GP 14 Flour Bluff 52 SA Vets Mem 45 Liberty Hill 62 Pioneer 34
The only really competitive game of the 4 was the FB/SAVM game. Pieper was out front 28-0 at the half and 38-0 after 3. AH was up 21-7 at half and then 35-7 after 3. LH was up 34-21 at the half and 48-28 after 3. Per the MYSA box score FB was up at the half 28-24, 38-31 after 3. I was surprised to see that it showed SAVM with 555 total yards to FB's 358.
This weeks regional round games: Pieper vs Alamo Heights Flour Bluff vs Liberty Hill
I think both these games are going to be very, very good.
I see Pieper winning a close one simply because I think their defense is the best in the region and will limit AH's offense. I think AH will still get a couple of big plays on them with their QB and Terry because they are that good. I am taking Pieper by 3-7 points something like 28-21. If Pieper can establish a solid run game against AH then they could pull away for a larger win. I simply do not see AH winning this game unless Pieper turns it over.
I see FB/LH as a bigtime shootout game and super high scoring. I don't think FB can shut down LH's run game much more than LH can stop FB from hitting big pass plays. I'm taking FB by 3-7 points and think the O/U is going to approach 100 points if not go over it. The key will be for FB's passing game to be on time and on the money and for FB's offensive line to pick up the rush and give the QB enough time to make his reads and make good throws. I think LH is going to sell out and have to come after the QB with blitz packages to try and stop the bleeding. If and when they do, FB will have to burn them with quick slants and such and make it count. Give me FB 56 LH 49 for a final.

LH is 4 for 4 in 5AD2 regional championships. The most complete game LH has played all year.
