Since we are only a week away, I figured I'd get this thread started. I think this is going to be a really, really good battle to win the region in this division with 5 pretty evenly matched teams. I see 5 teams out there that I believe have the ability to win the region this year. There are some other solid teams that may have a small chance of getting hot and upsetting one of these 5 but I believe that would take a pretty big upset to do it.
In Dist 13 has Liberty Hill and SA Pieper. Dist 14 has Alamo Heights Dist 15 has Flour Bluff & Gregory Portland Dist 16 I do not see a team in it that can beat any of the 5 teams listed above
Get the smack talk started. Should be a really fun 4 weeks of playoff football to see who gets the regional title.

I agree with you both that AH is a solid, good team. How good though? There is just no way to judge how good they are with the terrible district they play in. And, in their only non-district game they barely beat Seguin in a shootout 51-48. We all know Seguin is no powerhouse but is a decent team but again, that was game 1 of the year. I watched a little bit of AH this year and they do look solid but there is just no way to really judge because of the lack of competition they've played. They will likely draw the winner of the Tivy/Lockhart game tonight for round 1 and then if they do get by that team they will get either Flour Bluff or GP in the 2nd round and then we will see for sure.

Peiper is really good and LH D is still pourous. We will see tonight. I see a good game. I hope Lockhart can make the playoffs for my nephews sake.

It’s hard to bet against Liberty Hill come playoff time. They have a culture of winning. Preseason ends tonight and their season starts next week as their coach would say. They own three straight region titles and have gone at least three deep in the playoffs for the last 9 years. One of those years was with a 4-5 4th seed team.
Alamo Heights is tough. No doubt. Their extremely weak schedule does not do them any favors. They revealed a lack of mental and physical fortitude the last two years when a game is competitive for all 4 qrts.
Until proven wrong, my bet is with LH.
Go Panthers.

The winner of their game with Tivy gets the 4 seed in Dist 13 The Pieper/LH game should be a great ball game to watch. I imagine I will have that one on if I can find it online as well as the FB/GP game.

Did Liberty Hill bring a lot back from last season?

Seems playoffs get here sooner every year. Good choices of teams for this poll in my opinion.

My thoughts after last weeks games are like this as of today.
1 Pieper 2/3 FB/LH, LH/FB 4 AH 5 GP
I honestly still don't have a good feel for AH at this point. Their one non-district game 11 weeks ago was against a mediocre Seguin team and they had to win it in a shootout. That was week 1 so it doesn't mean anything and now they've played 9 average to below average teams since so there is really no way to gauge them. I'm anxious to see how well AH handles Lockhart this week. If they can't beat LH by 3 scores, I don't think they are a top 3 in the region.
I have Pieper at #1 simply because they have a very balanced offense and a really good defense. They have good size up front on both sides of the ball and that defensive front gets after it. I was actually a little surprised Pieper had as much success running the ball on LH as they did.
I almost have to believe that FB's offense may give them more trouble than LH's did simply because of FB's passing game. So, I'm pulling for FB to win that side of the bracket and set up a regional final with them. FB will meet up with SAVM in round 2 and that one has the potential to be a pretty good game but see FB winning by 2-3 scores. LH has a cakewalk to round 3......LITTERALLY as does Pieper to the same round.

They've been pretty accurate at this time in years past, but they are definitely having an off year up to this point.

Yup Agree Antlers. But not having a single game to really judge where AH here has me a bit skeptical on them
