It's such a good feeling seeing local newspapers and media members sharing stories and rankings from the new DCTF magazine while those of us that ignorantly continue to pay the $49 to get the magazine first are still being shafted. I will learn my lesson after this season and stop subscribing. F DCTF. I thought you said that last year? They automatically charged my account. I need to get off that and cancel.

These dudes still doing that garbage thing they do where they over-rank a team from the South just to sell magazines. They have San Benito ahead of teams like Converse Judson in the rankings.

Just for clarity it's a computer ranking not a human ranking...we use our rankings partner Jerry Forrest for our pre-season rankings, the formula is the formula it doesn't care about selling magazines or making anyone happy

The problem with using computer rankings is sometimes a team can "fool" the computer in the preseason with a lot of returning starters etc....it happens with Padilla's also...once games are played and data rolls in it corrects itself

Todays Converse Judson is not like the Judson of five or ten years ago and defiantly not the Judson of the 80’s and 90’s into the new century. Head to head they would probably still beat San Benito 9 times out of 10. But it wouldn’t be an auto blow out like it once was during “valley week”.

Just for the record, San Benito ended 2022 ranked 2 points ahead of Judson in the PadillaPoll and in Jerry's ranking Judson was less than a one point favorite in the final poll...so maybe it isn't as far fetched as we thought

Bottom line is your poll says SB would beat Judson and nobody with a brain thinks that game would be any closer than 35-0 in Judson's favor regardless of this not being 1980s Judson.

You are entitled to your opinion! They actually had a common opponent last year....Westlake Westlake 47, Judson 14 Westlake 44, San Benito 7 So pretty similar results with a 4-point difference....which actually tracks pretty close to where both computer models ended the year also

You think they get up to play San Benito? SB barely broke the 100 yard mark of total offense that game. I'm making it simple for you... Are you saying SB would beat Judson if they played today? I get that computers are involved in the rankings but you can't tell me that you guys don't use your own judgements to adjust whatever the computer pops out.

I saw Judson last year in person and I saw San Benito last year in person....it'd be a close game...they weren't far apart, but I'd pick Judson last year by less than a score... I know Judson is the South Texas boogeyman from the 80s and 90s but this aint your father's Judson...things have changed a lot there mainly with their play up front on both sides of the ball...they aren't what they used to be and San Benito is not terrible...they beat a district runner-up from San Antonio by 19 points in the area playoffs... And actually we dont make a ton of adjustments to the computer rankings in the pre-season predictions....we make a few on things we feel are egregious and obviously the collective group didnt feel this was an egregious error having San Benito over Judson and based on the data points of using the end rankings of the two foremost computer ranking systems and using the common opponent variable from 2022...I think we made the right call not over-riding the computer

As bad was Judson last year, and as good as San Benito was, Judson would have beat them by 14 points.

You are also comparing common opponent scores when Judson played Westlake in week 2 and SB played them in the 2nd round. Judson was playing TERRIBLE football early in the year and I think you know that. Though I agree that these two teams were not lightyears apart last year, I also think Judson beats SB head to head late in the year by at least 2 scores. Do you think SB goes to Midland Legacy and puts up 60 on them and beats them by 10. NO WAY!

I dont think San Benito puts up 60 on Midland Legacy becauase that's not really their brand of football, much more of a defensive oriented team....Midland Legacy was a weird team last year and that first half vs Judson was their weirdest half of the year, must have sleptwalk getting off the bus in San Antonio. I stand by my statement that Judson vs San Benito last year would be a competitive game, I know what I saw and I think it'd be a close game
