Last year in 4a it took a time in the 41s to be in the top 5 at state. In 5a it took a time in the 40s to be top 5. Boerne Champion went 42.04 and was dead last in 9th with that time. Refugio won 2a 4x100 last year with a 41.93. I think the sprinter sotex is talking about for them is campbell who anchored that relay and won the 100 himself with a 10.32. Dude can scoot. Just saw where FT Bend Marshall and Ridge Point both had sub 41 sec times in the sprint relay in FEBRUARY. That is just flying. Yup And that is pretty consistent every year with them. It isn't that hard to do when you have multiple 10 second 100m kids on the relay. lol

Stop it man. Do we really need to keep arguing over the obvious? You made it to round 5 because of the realignment situation. Is it your program's fault? No but it still is what it is. Realignment gutting the region of its best teams is why you made round 5 not because you have gotten better as a program. And my bad, i should have said CCISD not city. Flour Bluff cares about its football. Interesting that Flour Bluff cares about its football.,, and yet has only 1 Round 5 appearance in its 56-year history… and made it’s only Round 5 appearance due to a judgement call that negated a winning score by a said CCISD school. That said CCISD school has 2 Round 5 appearances. And both Flour Bluff and that said CCISD school made their Round 5 appearances against the same “realignment situation”. Weird. The facts are that 3 straight round 5’s and 8 straight round 4’s (multiple schools) is pretty dang good. Corpus Christi football is just fine. Expect that same trend to continue indefinitely. WRONG again When FB won the region they did it as a 5a D2 school that opted up to 5a D1 and the teams Chino is speaking of were in region 4 that year but they were 6a. Do you remember a team named Wagner? How about NBC? well, Smithson Valley kicked the chit out of both of those teams this year and all those teams dropped to 5a D1 and got pushed to R3 because your district pushed up all their schools for the sake of 1! NBC beat you early in the year and SV would have spanked you like a red-headed step child had you met them in the playoffs this year!

Your city cares about baseball and that's about it. Accept it. If your community cared about football as much as it does baseball then maybe your football situation would be different. baseball is drawing college and pro scouts to the city and surrounding areas getting kids the opportunity to go to college. Problem is the area just isn't big enough population wise to have kids that concentrate on just football. Lot os schools in Corpus and surrounding losing kids to just baseball or basketball and not enough kids left to replace them with. I played every sport back in the 80's football, basketball, track and baseball and so did just about everyone else but the opportunities now to specialize on one sport and go to college can't blame the parents for helping their kid achieve that goal. got of topic sorry from this thread. Yall know who i'm rooting for to finally get the opportunity to lead Alice. For about a decade, some coaches at certain baseball programs have discouraged multi sports in the Coastal Bend working in concert with the "$elect League$." Saw it real time. It certainly goes on elsewhere, but I think it's more of a disease here than in other places with similar population and ethnic characteristics. Funny it has worked just the opposite with some of the softball programs in the area. And some of those girls got the same offers to schools like UT, LSU, to name a few. I'm glad Calalllen Softball strongly encourages multi sport. BTW they are kicking ass this year and just took out a number of 6A schools at a Houston tourney this weekend. I got a feeling they will be playing in Austin in late May. I wish I could hold a seminar for all incoming first grader parents with coaches from the college and pro ranks who want kids to multi sport. Perhaps it would save a decade of some parents pouring money down what might a bottomless pit and really get nothing for their kid at the end of the their k-12 days. Might work with some, but with others it’s part of being part of parent clic and nothing else. Thanks Social Media!

Looks like Rockport is announcing their guy this afternoon. Only took them three weeks as it was announced at the beginning of the month Seifert had taken the Sweeny job.

I seriously had some here in Belton and Temple argue with me that it's important in 5A and 6A to specialize because it takes away from practice time throughout the year if they don't. I was like you are an idiot if you think those kids are practicing your sport 24/7... They didn't want football kids in anything but football, basketball for basketball, etc! I was like and that's why your teams are getting beat by everyone outside your bubble.... A track coach I worked with ruined several kids chancesat college because he guaranteed if they stayed track year around, they'd be D1 scholarship recipients... The guys had played Football, Soccer, track, and baseball before that and were really good, but when they graduated without those scholarships, they were angry and regretful. The girls did volleyball, basketball or soccer, softball, and track. Again they got to graduation and were angry... two of the soccer girls I had made calls and got them shots at college scholarships, but because of the track coach guaranteeing D1 they quit soccer...

Again they got to graduation and were angry... two of the soccer girls I had made calls and got them shots at college scholarships, but because of the track coach guaranteeing D1 they quit soccer... I'll probably get in trouble with this with my Calallen peeps, but our baseball program has declined because of the lack of multi sport athletes. Back when we were winning titles and showing up in multiple back to back state tourneys in the late 90's and all through the first decade of the 2000's, most of our players played two sports or more and they looked like it with most of them playing football. Last year when we played Sinton, they looked like us back in that decade because they had some multi sport athletes while most our kids looked small and thin. Even the Robstown radio guy who I spoke to at one game said the fricken one sport BS is hurting programs like ours and they hate our guts over there. LOL! He brought that up without me bringing up my two cents on the subject! Our girls softball is just doing fine BECAUSE OF MULTI SPORT ATHLETES even though most of the stud players have Softball as their priorty sport. But they play Volleyball and basketball in the fall and some even find time for track and field in the spring. Fricken imagine that! I hate the fact some kids via their parents are being promised with pots of gold and then when they get to the end of the rainbow, there is none. Baseball through the way it has evolved ( I'll say devolved) is the worse culprit at this and the MLB even realizes this as they've voiced concern how the game is not gaining new audience and more and more players are being brought in from other countries to fill the talent vacuum. I've seen too many kids herein the Coastal Bend get baited into thinking they are going to be the next great to come from here and end up at dugout furniture and gave up football, basketball, etc. because of this. Some quit their Junior years and those who stuck it out were glad when it was over their Senior years and NEVER touched a baseball diamond again as a player.

CC Vets and Flour Bluff have won Region 4 for 3 straight seasons... both are Corpus Christi schools. Either CC Vets, CC Miller, Flour Bluff, Calallen or some combination of them all have made it to Round 4 or better for 8 straight seasons. All are Corpus Christi schools. Corpus Christi football is just fine. With these 4 teams, and maybe Carroll soon to join the party as the 5th team... there should be a Corpus Christi school in Round 4+ in every year moving forward for the foreseeable future. The rest of the chatter in my response to Cochino is just noise. He tried to dog CC Vets... but in doing so he also needs to dog Flour Bluff, Calallen, and CC Miller. It doesn't make sense to pick out one team, when all 4 have the same-ish accomplishments in the same Region in the same timeframe I referenced. And your response to me is completely irrelevant to the subject altogether.

They were by far the most Discliplined team I'd seen in the last 5 years at least. Their HC runs a tight, no-nonsense program.

Both of them and Calallen play much tougher competition that Vets. You just refuse to see it.

Flour Bluff, Calallen, and to some extent GP, Sinton and Alice only become "Corpus" schools once the CCISD is out the picture. At least that has been the way it was in the past with some (not all) in the media..... The City of Corpus Christi certainly doesn't treat Flour Bluff and Calallen/TM like they are part of the City although many who live in those districts pay a ton of taxes to the City and get crumbs in return. Everything is Southside to them.

Dang, they aren't messing around. Very fast. They must have a good pick to reveal. Rockport is an attractive job for sure. Nice community albeit leans a little more on the retirement age folks kind of like Kerrville. It's recovered nicely from Harvey too.
