In other HC news... A current Coastal Bend HC is a Finalist for the Richmond Foster job. Anyone know who? My guess would be Bitner. Him, Davis and Evans are basically the only ones with a resume I could imagine being a Foster Finalist and it isn't Evans. Bitner's success is inherited but still to an outsider on paper his resume might look good. Davis I can't imagine leaving G-P after only 2 seasons. At 1st I thought Evans but I don’t think Davis would be a considerate one … a while back one of my social media buddies told me that he was a LOCK

So did Bitner leave CCVM? I'm curious to see how that district plays out now that they have a legit coach at East. He can coach circles around Evans and his no special teams playing Bucs. He can also coach circles around the Vets staff too in my opinion. If he gets 100% buy in like Davis did in year 1 at GP, they could be very good and district champs. If Bitner leaves, that program at CCVM could really suffer because even if he inherited that success, the kids bought into him fully and although Region 4 D1 is weak, he still over achieved this year given they were supposed to lose twice in the playoffs and still won. He is a good coach in that regard. Heck I'd take him at TM any day!!!

CCVM is going to suffer when Carroll takes off regardless of who their HC is or isn't. I don't know what the boundary lines are but there's lots of new apartments being built right around the Carroll area and room for more growth.

He's just mixed in the speculation with who is the Coastal Bend HC that is a finalist for the Richmond Foster HC Job. Most assume it has to be someone with winning resume and because of turnover and the such, there is only a few HC in the region who match this. CalCatGirl suggested it might be the King HC based on his connections to Richmond Foster, but he hasn't exactly lit King on fire in the two seasons ( I think) he's been at King.

any rumors on who’s applying.. its been pretty dang quiet I am close to the situation and others within the athletic department and central office. I can confirm over over 40 applicants last update. Board members are split as to how to move forward with the selection, the fact that some board members don’t get along doesn’t help. A couple want to hire from within others don’t even want to talk about hiring from within. Some big names have applied. Big names in terms of up and coming coaches like assistants and coordinators and successful programs. They are split on how soon they should name someone. Some want to have the guy before spring break, others want to wait till end of March but I don’t know what the reason for that might be. One main reason Atwood has been wanting to leave is because of the severity of the micromanagement from the board and superintendent. They did not let him do his job. It’s only gotten worse over the last couple of years. Not too long ago maybe about two months ago, his wife was verbally attacked in public at the grocery store, an adult man attacked her about the playoff loss, this was in front a heck of a lot of people and one of their kids was with her. More recently the head basketball coach was let out in handcuffs at a recent basketball game. Coach Atwood followed policy and wrote him up, suspended him for a few games. Coach Elizondo ran and cried to the superintendent and some board members, only to have them override it. No consequences. Basketball coach is a joke and after Atwood’s resignation, we now find Elizondo on the agenda for the next board meeting. I’ve sat back and read this thread and laugh at some of the things being said on here, but take it from me there’s a lot that you all don’t know about so I understand why you say what you say. I’m in the know, and don’t post often but I wanted to share this info.

The Super and board micromanaging sucks for sure but what does any of that have to do with some of the inexplicable losses. His wife being attacked is pathetic for sure and so is what you say happened with the basketball situation but again what does any of that have to do with 4 years ago which is at least how long he's been wanting to leave. What does any of that have to do with the inexplicable loss to Calhoun or the horrible QB management situation this season. I appreciate your info but it sounds like both sides ended up getting what they wanted in the end. And hell no they better not hire from within. This program needs a complete change especially if there's lots of quality applicants.

This program needs a complete change especially if there's lots of quality applicants. Noted and understandable. You are entitled to feel the way you do about Atwood and his staff, it’s no secret to anyone how you feel. You are on the outside looking in. There’s volumes of information you know nothing about though. I associate with the coaches, now work closely with the district as well as my fiancé. We have relatives and close friends with student athletes in several sports. A lot has been happening behind the scenes for years. The main reason honestly Atwood has been looking for so long is because of the micromanagement. Year two something happened that definitely changed his mind about being in the situation he’s been in. It’s not my place to say on her and it involves some higher ups. They’ve been pulling him by a leash ever since. I don’t blame him for not being happy. The QB situation and players quitting. Again it’s way more than what you think you know. While the family of the jr qb will have you thinking he quit because of favoritism it’s not that at all far from it and they’ll never say why. In fact he’s not allowed to play sports until something else gets taken care of. He’s not playing sports this season for a reason and it isn’t Atwood. The senior qb same thing. Plagued with injuries already, even hurting more than Cutter. The baseball season hasn’t even started and he’s already sitting out due to an injury. A lot of things you guys don’t know about, so everyone just runs with the narratives the parents throw out there. Dealing with stress on every level, good move to look elsewhere. I can also confirm that there wasn’t a dry in the room when he talked to his players and made his announcement. The players took it hard. We are a bunch of has beens being selfish and want to win but you don’t see the other side of it. I was crushed to with the way the season ended, as a former player and diehard Coyote you want nothing more then to see the program succeed. There’s so much more that you don’t know about. On another note one applicant who is heavily favored already visited the school, he spent some time at the athletic dept and he was impressed and really liked the facilities. Move on from the Atwood bashing without knowing all the facts and let’s try to stay positive and hope those fools on the board do their job and do what’s good for the program not themselves.
